This week, Kalia :
- sits by herself for long periods without falling over. I can go to the bathroom, make lunch, or run and get the mail and she's still sitting up when I come back in.
- went to her first baby shower (Steph's in Jupiter). She only napped for about an hour the entire day (two 30 minute naps - one of which was in the car on the way there), but she still did really well.
- got jealous at Mommy holding another baby. Steph's sister Jennifer has an adorable little 9 week old boy. At first Kalia thought he was interesting and she touched his face (which she does to all babies), and then she thought that was enough of Daddy wearing her in the bjorn and Mommy holding another baby. She did her yell / talk thing to let everyone know I was her Mommy!
- is growing. For her lack of naps on Saturday, she made up for it Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. She took a 3-3 1/2 hour nap each of those days!
- is making us pay for traveling so much. We're lucky if she makes it one 4 hour stretch at night. I think it probably has something to do with her growth spurt too though, but who knows!
- got a rash on her belly. I'm hoping it's just an allergic reaction to something new she was on this past weekend, but there's another little girl that had Hand Foot and Mouth Disease that I was walking around with at the shower, so I'm hoping Kalia didn't catch it (they thought she had chiggers, just found out she was misdiagnosed). She has her 6 month checkup on Friday though, so I'll see what the pediatrician says then! She's also got a little bit of a runny nose...boo!
- started eating for real solids. All of my girlfriends have said that their babies loved, loved, loved sweet potatoes, so that's where we started. Kalia had another opinion of it. I even mixed it with breast milk instead of just water, but she hated it. The pictures tell the full story. She fake gags like it's so disguising that she can't even swallow another bite of it. Really? At 6 months old she knows how to fake gag?!
- figured out how to splash in the tub. She thought this was HILARIOUS. It's the hardest she's laughed ever. We filled up her little infant tub and put her in it in her big tub in her bathroom. She clapped the water a few times, and then just went nuts banging her hands down and splashing water everywhere, and then laughing, laughing, laughing. After we all took a breath from laughing so hard, she'd do it all again. Such a goofy girl!!
- has learned to anticipate things. You can say "ready?!" and she gets a bit smile on her face, or if you count to three, when you reach three, she knows something is coming and gets a huge smile on her face.
- loves to be held up above our heads. Conveniently, that's when she decides to let out a huge string of drool. She's hit Daddy in the mouth once so far...I've been fortunate enough to only get it down my shirt! She's still a drool monster too. I'm convinced she's going to drool, be toothless, and insist on only breast feeding until she's 18. I've got some things to work on this next week!!
She inherited the fake gag from her mommy! Remember asparagus ;-) Hope her runny nose gets better...Ashlyn's started this morning from riding in a parade last night in the freezing rain!
