Kalia : 19 months

These past few weeks, Kalia :
  • had a crazy crazy whirwind of a Christmas holiday! The Saturday before Christmas, the Wells came and visited for the day.  Then Christmas day, Grandpa and Grandma Drago, Great Gma and Gpa Drago, as well as the Harvey's (with Blake, who was very into Kalia's tunnel and had a great time playing together!), and the Anderlik's came over to help us celebrate Christmas.  Grandpa and Grandma Drago stayed the night and hung out with Kalia until her nap.  The next day when she woke up from her nap, Granny and Grandpa Hoskins were there until her nap on Friday, and then Saturday we left as soon as we changed her diaper in the morning and got her dressed and headed over to Melbourne to put her down for a nap (she thought that was really silly, but complied...eventually!) before driving up to Orlando to help Maddie celebrate her 1st Birthday, and played with all of Maddie's friends and all of Chris's family, and then came back home New Years day and Grandma Debbie was here the next day until Friday!  Whew!  She did relatively well napping while we were gone but decided she'd make up for it when we got home.  We're back on track though!  :-).
  • is starting to count to 10.  She can count all of the time to 3, and most of the time she can make it through all of the numbers to 10, but sometimes she gets excited and skips a few and goes straight to 9-10!!!
  • is learning her letters.  We got her alphabet bath toys, and she loves to play pick up with them to put them back in their bag and tell you what letter they are.  She definitely knows capital versions of these letters: a,b,c,k,l,m,n,o,q,s,v,w,x,z.  She points out letters when we draw them on the chalk board or they're big in her books. I need to find some lower case alphabet bath toys so we can learn that too!
  • loves everything related to drawing.  On the chalk board, coloring with crayons in her coloring books (she tells me what color she's coloring with too!), with her new aquadoodle mat her Aunt Christina and Uncle Shawn got her (thanks!), and on her 'magic erase' drawing board that we got her.
  • says "where are you <Mommy, Daddy, Kodi, doggie, Elmo, etc> when she's walking around the house looking for something in a sing-song voice.  So cute!
  • has a crazy memory.  Every neighborhood that we go walking in, she tells us what Christmas decorations used to be in front of that house, and always gets it right.  One particular neighborhood we hadn't been in since before Thanksgiving, and she told us about the 'ducks' and 'reindeer' that were in their front yard.  I just tell her everything's gone bye-bye.  She still asks about her Elf everyday (he's at Santa's home helping make toys for next year), and the polar bear.  Poor Polar Bear went to the graveyard though - so sad!
  • loves all electronic toys.  I actually have to take them away so she's not just so zoned into them all of the time!  I save them for the car :-), they distract her enough that she doesn't scream the whole time when we're going somewhere!
  • sings "la la la la la" like her rock n roll Elmo doll - cute!
  • loves to play with her dollhouse and its contents that Santa brought her, but not IN the actual dollhouse.  She likes to take all of the dolls, beds, potty, etc. out of the house and play with them on the floor.
  • loves to be scared.  If you run around a corner and say "BOO!!!" she thinks it's hilarious, even when she's really really scared by it.
  • is memorizing half of her books.  I say the first half of the sentence and she says the second half in about 10 different books of hers.  It's crazy!
  • runs to give Daddy hugs and kisses before we go bye-bye or he goes bye-bye to work.  She'll go up to him, grab his leg and say "kiss!!" and then reach up and say "hug!".  So cute!
  • loves to blow kisses with a big muah!
Onto pictures!

Getting ready to go swimming at the Y!

Hanging out with her beads, computer, and dolls!

Outside chasing me.  She runs runs runs to lunge at me, give me a big hug, and then runs, runs, runs again!

With Kinley, the little girl that lives down the street.

She asked for me to put her glasses on, and then asked for a mirror to check herself out.  She loves the mirror!

Swimming at the Y!  I got told that "he" was adorable and that he was going to be a ladies man.  Yes, she's bald, but she's in a BATHING SUIT and a SWIM SHIRT.  NO SHORTS!!!  And they both have PINK it them!!!  Really?!?!

Playing on the playground afterwards with Daddy.  He was tired and needed a seat!

Kodi and her beads!

Silly girl!

Getting her Elmo shoes from Granny in the mail.  She had to check to make sure there wasn't anymore Elmo!

Playing in the mall play area.  We were there so early that no one else was there, so Mommy and Daddy got to be kids again :-).

At the zoo, checking out the monkeys!

One got a little too close to the glass, and she jumped in Daddy's arms!

Having tea - thanks Aunt Jennifer!

Putting her balls from her new ball pit (thanks Granny!) into her purse (thanks Aunt Jessica!).

...she loves this ball pit by the way.  It's lots of fun to shake it where she falls over, and throw out every single ball and then throw every single ball back in while singing pick up and saying what color it is.  I think we've done it 100 times already!

Good quality silly time with Daddy!

After Church!

Being a little mischievious and trying to push the buttons on the dishwasher...silly girl.

All Done!

  1. Every time we did the play area at the mall, Kaylyn got sick. Eventually we just stopped playing in it, because it was literally like 4 different times she got sick the evening after playing in it. Hopefully they clean yours better so that doesn't happen :-)
