Happy 6 week Birthday Kalia!

This week, Kalia :
  • had smile time for an entire hour with me on last Wednesday morning.  I kept saying "smiillle Kalia", and then I'd do a big huge goofy grin, and she's laugh, coo, and smile back at me.
  • made quite an impression at Breast Feeding Support Group.  The lactation consultant asked if people had questions, and then people would ask their questions and the group would chime in.  She asked if anyone had anymore questions, and everyone got real quiet and looked around, and little Miss Kalia decided it was the perfect time to poop really really loudly.  Like super loud.  Everyone looked at her and started laughing.  I told them that we've got to work on teaching Kalia how to be a lady!
  • attended her first sign language class with Mommy, which she slept through the entire thing.  The most important signs I learned were "more milk please".  :-)
  •  has really started following things.  She'll look straight at us now and stare.  She's so cute on our walks...she loves looking up at the trees.  It's awesome to watch her vision area expand...it's like her whole world is growing.  She 'saw' her mobile on her swing for the first time, and it was the coolest thing to watch.
  • had laugh time with her 'magic music panda' (her mobile on her crib).  She just looked at the panda and kept laughing and cooing at him.
  • had a pretty bad 6 week birthday.  She got her immunizations today, and was absolutely miserable all day.  The nurse that gave her her shots didn't tell us we could give her infant tylenol.  I called later on in the day and asked if there was anything I could give her to make her more comfortable, and the nurse on the phone said that they recommend giving them tylenol every 4-6 hours for the first 24 hours so they're not so miserable and uncomfortable.  Everytime she'd wake up, she'd scream crying in pain until she got the tylenol in her.  Poor Baby!!
  • gave her Daddy a run for his money with bottle feeding.  She's still not taking the bottle unless he tricks her and feeds it to her when she's half asleep.  The peditrician just said to keep trying and for me to leave the house, so we're switching to trying to bottle feed when Chris gets home from work and I'll leave on a jog.
Kalia weighed in at 11 lbs 8 ounces today (93%), her head measured in at  15 inches (80%), and her height was the same, at still off the charts.  She's filling out a little bit more, which is good!

The doc said her rash is eczema.  It's hereditary (I have it), but we're also washing her too much and not applying enough lotion, so we're switching those out.  Kalia's too clean!

I only got a few pictures before Kalia said no more in the morning.  She was so miserable all day, so I couldn't get any additional pictures this week.  Enjoy!

This last one is Kalia's way of saying "ALL DONE!"
