Kalia : 14 months

The story of these last few weeks have been teeth, teeth, teeth, and no sleep!!  Kalia :

  • is up to 8 teeth now, and I think she's working on molars too.  There's no way she'll let me put my fingers all the way to the back of her mouth to check it out, but hers are shoved back there constantly.   We've had a few up most of the nighters, starting from about 2 a.m. on, which is what time her advil wears off.  Blah!
  • went on a playdate to visit her little friend Reese that she missed seeing  for quite awhile!  She thought Reese's new house, especially the stairs :-) and the pool!, were great fun!  She was really sweet with Reese too.  Reese got upset about something to do with chapstick, and Kalia went up to her really sweetly and handed her the chapstick as if to tell her it was okay.  Cute!
  • has made herself throw up a few times from reaching to the back of her mouth to chomp on her fist.  On our way home from Amy and Reese's house, Kalia made herself puke, thought it was funny, started laughing, and made herself puke again.  And then decided it'd be absolutely hilarious to try to eat her puke as well.  I know, disgusting!  I had one hand pinning her hands down and the other one driving!
  • learned how to blow kisses!
  • can fully say "Kodi" over and over and over again.  She mainly does it when she's in her crib fighting off sleep.  She used to go through and repeatedly say "Momma, Daddy, doggie" and now she says "Momma, Daddy, Koodi", and then will call for him a bunch of times.
  • has missed her afternoon nap more often than she's actually taken it.  I think it's the combo of me trying to wean her (not working so far) and her being used to a million people being around on vacation.  All sleep times are really really rough right now.  She doesn't go down easily for anything anymore at all.
  • has peed in the potty 4 times.  She's told me she had to go twice, and then twice we've set her in it right before bath time and she's gone in her little potty.  The two times she told me were in the big potty.  She'll sit up there for a few, grab some toilet paper, wipe, and say all done.  I let her watch me go, so now she's decided she needs to help me wipe as well.  Oiy.  I thought she was just handing me the toilet paper, and in came the full on wipe.  I know it's too early for potty training, I don't force anything, I just go along with what she says she wants and let it play out.  I don't think we're anywhere near for real potty training, although I do spend a.lot of time in front of the toilet "yay"ing Kalia these days!
  • has had a lot of fun swimming, going to the splash parks, and going to the regular parks since we've gotten back.  None of that wears her out enough for her to nap though, I'm losing my mind!  If she wasn't tired, it'd be fine, but she rubs her eyes and still definitely needs that 2nd nap, so I'm struggling with her not taking it right now. It's also why I'm behind on phone calls and emails.  I normally get stuff done while she's sleeping!
  • weighed in at 23 lbs at BF support group on Wednesday, fully dressed, but no shoes.
  • is outgrowing her size 4 shoes and moving into some of her size 5's.
  • has outgrown a few of her 18 month onesies and is wearing some of her 24 month clothes.
  • still has a love for shoes.  She's started putting mine on and walking around the house in them.  Well, one of them.
  • has watched a little bit of the olympics on TV.  I let her watch volleyball because I don't want to miss it!  Now when she walks in front of the TV she pumps her fist.  When we watch, we chant "go USA!"  She actually won't stay still to watch it unless I'm chatting with her or playing with her, so we chant and high 5 when USA does well!
  • still loves to break it down and dance.  She's more into bobbing her head around these days, but she still gets low quite a bit too!
  • had a really fun playdate with Aila, Reese, and Conner on Friday!  She kept trying to touch Conner and say "baa-bee!!".
Onto the fun part, pictures!

Being a goof while smiling with Mommy!

Yes, this is Kodi's ball in her mouth.  I washed it beforehand!

Dancing for me...she was so funny with this.  She was so into her dance moves, and I just kept snapping away and she just kept being so serious and doing all kinds of crazy moves!

"Mommy, I'm breaking it down, watch me!"
"Get low, oh yeah!"
"Raising the roof, woot woot!"
This is what Kalia does when you ask her where her tongue is.  Too cute!

"I know, I am too cute Mommy!!"
Telling me something or another!

A few of her blowing kisses...

Then loving on Kodi...

...then giving Kodi kisses...

...and loving on him some more.  Kodi is the best dog in the entire world for constantly putting up with Kalia's craziness!

Kalia and I cooking waffles together in our matching aprons on a Sunday morning.  She's a little cuter looking than my bed head / bed face in the a.m.'s!

Mommy's little helper (how cute is she in that apron?!?!).

"Uhhh...this salt is HEAVY!"
Walking all around in my shoe!  Her little bubble jumper isn't snapped, it's why it looks big.

"Mommy, I can't BELIEVE how BIG your feet are!!"
Next up, walking in her tennis shoes.  I thought they'd be hard for her to get around in because the sole isn't all that flexible, but she did perfectly fine in them!  I'm starting to have to put her in tennis shoes for the parks, her feet are getting disgusting in her sandals, which she doesn't like either!

"Mommy, time to go!!!"
I still have that giant number 1 from her first birthday up, and she walks over there all of the time and points to pictures of "Daddy, Momma, Doggie or Kodi", so I asked her where Momma was, and this was her response.  Guess she was right, ha!

"Momma!"
How we're going to spend the next few years of our lives.  I've got to redo that bathroom if I'm going to be spending this much time on it!

"yay, pee pee on the potties!!"
"all done!"
Fun time at the Ridgemoor Park!

"Hi Mommy!"
Walking up the stairs all by herself!  Daddy was there in case there were any mishaps!

"Daddy, Daddy, spin the wheel for me!!!"
This was too cute not to capture.  She only sits still for 3 seconds max, but still such a sweet moment!

Climbing another thing all by herself!

I told her she was so big for climbing all by herself!  She told me something back...I have no idea what though, haha!

Moving the earth.

One of our first born!  What's so silly about this picture is that I called for him to look at the camera, and then did the big dumb goofy wide open mouthed grin for Kodi that I do for Kalia.  Chris and I couldn't stop laughing afterwards.  So silly.

Kalia's new friend Conner came over and we set up the swing for him (only new because he's only 2 months old - Aila's brother).  She only napped for 30 minutes the entire day, so I tried to put her in the swing to chilax.  She's a little big for it, haha, but the weight limit is 25 lbs, and she's only 23!

"Mommy, can't you tell I'm trying to have a conversation here?  Geez, what's a girl gotta do to be able to talk on the phone in private these days??"
The End!
