35 week bonus pictures

The girls playing in Kalia's crib...so silly!!  I had just fed Kalia lunch, and she's still a huge mess with her food (she likes to 'help'), so I take off her top to feed her...so, that's why she's topless!

Trying to get a cute picture with her cute top on!

Food mess!  Kalia thinks rubbing food on her belly or in her belly button is fascinating, so one of the times when she looks down as she's rubbing her belly and we're going in with the spoon to give her a bite, food inevitably winds up on her face.  This is why she stays topless!

"Allright Mommy, Daddy...lets talk.  Can you PLEASE try to stick to getting my food in my mouth and not all over my face???  Please?  I'm begging you..."
Everything still goes in the mouth, including these cabinet locks.

"Hmmm...wonder if I'm going to get in trouble for this.  Is that a mad face??"

We love Kodi!

Kodi : "Seriously Mom?!?  My paw??  I have to let her have free reign of my paws too??"
Kodi : "Well, I don't know if my ear is any better..."
Kalia : "Oh Kodi, you're so silly!!!"
Kalia hollering in excitement at Kodi.  Poor Kods!!

I bought these stools and table for Kalia for her playroom, outside, or her bedroom.  I was going to save it for her first birthday, but they were too cute, I had to put them out.  She's a little small for them still, but she thinks they're great drums!

"Umm...Mommy?  Can you get me down from here please??  These were much more fun to beat on than sit on!"
More basket fun with chewing on her doll's pacifier.  She gets in there and sits like that all on her own.

View of Kalia's entire prison / play yard.  She's still playing in her basket.

Being goofy with Daddy in the stroller.

On our way over to Melbourne.  We stopped because Kalia was throwing a fit and Chris broke out the camera and she started smiling.  She doesn't do that as much as she used to anymore.  I tried to crop my face out, but couldn't.  Ignore me please!

Fun time in the park!!  We met Grandma and Grandpa Taggart there!

Bath time in the sink.  She thought it was great, and kept trying to put her hands around the stream of water. She leaned forward into it a few times thinking that she was going to be grabbing onto something and was thoroughly fascinated by the fact that it just dissipated in her hands!

Reading the paper with Grandpa in the morning.

"Ohmygoodness, did you hear??  I can't believe it!"
"I know...right?  My thoughts exactly!!!"
Fun time on the dock with her furry brother!

First boat ride.  She's really confused about what's going on here.

Kalia thought the door was her new prison yard.

"Kodi, nooo...we're separated again!!!"
"Mommy, let me out!!!!"
"Daddy??  Can you please let me out??  Kodi is out there all alone!!"
Kalia : "Oh Kodi...I miss you!!!!  I'll find a way out, don't you worry!"  Kodi :  "Don't worry kid, I'm okay!"

Playing with bubbles out in Grandpa and Grandma Drago's yard for the first time.  She studied them more than played with them.

On our way to Yulander's 1st birthday party.  I'm hoping to steal some of Janelle's pictures to post here from the actual party!  The two of them were really cute together!

On our drive home.  Kalia started throwing a fit because she was hungry, but when we stopped she just wanted to play.  She thinks the front of the truck is lots of fun!

Chris didn't believe me that Kalia gets into her baskets all on her own.  We put her in her play area for us to unload the truck when we got home, and came inside to find her little bumble bee butt straight up in the air.  I didn't capture that picture by the time I got my camera out, but I did get an 'in action' shot.  She was so excited to see all of her toys again!

Reaching her 2nd bookshelf!  She can knock the books down from them, even though she's on her toes here.  She's growing too fast!!!

Whew!!  What a busy week!

Happy 8 month Birthday Kalia!

Kalia's poor tree didn't like the freeze...we're hoping it'll come back in the spring, but ... well, it doesn't look too promising.  At least Kalia and her Daddy are cute!

I swear I just posted Happy 7 months yesterday...times flies these days just as fast as Kalia moves!

Happy 35 week Birthday Kalia!

This week, Kalia:

  • had a play date at our home with her little friends Harper, Aila, and Reese.  The girls played hard and were all so cute together.  At the end they started to get tired (Harper had already gone home to take a nap!), so we put them all in the crib together, and I think they got their second wind.  They were all hollering and jumping up and down and it was just mass chaos.  So much fun and so cute!
  • can sit straight up on her knees.  Before she had to sit on her butt to hold herself up, but now she can balance while sitting on her knees too...I think she likes it this way so she's ready to go in an instant!
  • nixed carrots in her food.  She was still pooping seven to eight times a day after we omitted the blueberries, so we got rid of the carrots (she threw them up the last time we gave them to her), and she went back down to 2-3 times a day.  Thank goodness!
  • had a rough rough sleep week.  We headed to Melbourne Thursday night at her bedtime.  We forgot the baby gates, so we had to go back, and missed our magic sleep window.  We stopped prior to getting on 275 and fed her, and finally got her to go to sleep.  About 45 minutes out, the sunpass dropped from the window onto the dash with a loud bang.  Chris and I both had our hands up in the air saying "why?!???" I finally got her to calm down by looking at pictures of herself on my phone.  She fought going to sleep at all once we got there though and it was the wee hours of the morning before we finally got her down (and not in our bed).  Friday night she was up every hour or two, Saturday after waking up a few times prior to us going to sleep, she finally slept for a 6 hour stretch, and then Sunday I don't recall her sleeping at all.  Well, she was awake from about 1130 until 330, and then was up for good at 530.  Rough rough week of sleeping all around!
  • went on her first boat ride!  She wasn't sure about it at first (probably because we had her all bundled up and a life jacket on) and then decided it was relaxing and started to fall asleep!  We were going out to lunch though, so she woke up to eat lunch and made it back before falling asleep for her afternoon nap.
  • has become a serious baby again when she's put into a new situation.  I had forgotten how serious she used to be all of the time, but that side of her showed up while we were in Melbourne.  She was busy taking everything in!
  • went to Yulander's first birthday party on Superbowl Sunday!  She cried when she first got there - she was overwhelmed by all of the new people, but then did better playing with the toys and Yulander and eventually warmed up to everyone...except the men.  Daddy has thought her to not like men besides her Grandpa's and every time one of them would talk to her, she'd start crying.  She is pretty tough with playing though...she likes to go for gaulging out the eyes and crawling over people, not around.
  • is quite vocal.  When she's excited, she yells...when she's upset, she yells...and she's started babbling a lot more too!
  • gave Nancy a hard time on Monday night while we were at volleyball.  She woke up an hour after we put her down and screamed at Nancy for 5-10 minutes.  Nancy said it was something along the lines of "YOU ARE NOT MY MOMMA!!!!!!!!" We know the scream...she gives it to Chris when he goes in in the middle of the night.  Nancy managed to distract her to calm her down though before we got home...thanks Nancy!!!
  • went to storytime on Tuesday up at the library.  There was a 2 year old boy there that hit her upside the head with one of the cushions that you're supposed to use to sit on, and if looks could kill, that little boy would've been dead.  She just glared at him and then continued on her way very matter of factly.  He hit her over the head with a train later on and she yelled at him and then kept playing.  If she was coordinated to punch, I think she might've done so.  I've got to be careful with her!
  • does not like edamame.  She was up on her birthday night every single hour until 4 a.m. and then she finally slept until 7 a.m. with gas.  We eliminated the edamame and she did fine after that.
  • came back from Melbourne with a rash.  I was hoping she didn't take after me with her skin and stomach, but I think she does.
  • has outgrown her 9 month sleepers, and is pushing it in her 12 month ones.  They're supposed to be tight, but, well, not that tight!
  • outgrew her 6-12 month shoes.  She is officially in a size 2.  I have no idea how her feet grew so quickly, but they were tiny one night and big the next day!
  • can now reach her 2nd bookshelf, and is very proud of herself for it!  So far no climbing...
  • added na na na na to her list of babbling.
I didn't have the patience to do another round of pictures this week, and we ran out of time after Chris got home (and after we got her 8 month birthday pictures), so this weeks pictures aren't the greatest again.  Kalia knows that I want her to sit still for the picture, so she crawls off or turns around, squeals in delight, and then gets herself off  the chair and goes and plays with her books.  I need to grow two more arms to keep her in place!

"No no no, I want to play with my books, not smile for a picture!"

"This is so funny...I love giving Mommy a hard time!!!"

"Ready to catch me Mommy??  Well, ready or not, here I come!!"
This was after tossing her back into the pillow.  Mid-flight, she's already trying to come forward to get off the chair!  So impossible!

Oh well, she's still the cutest baby in the whole world and I still love her so much!!!

35 week checkup

Well, I didn't get a chance to post on Thursday after our ultra-sound...but...

everything looked great with Kalia...she's just a BIG BABY!!!  She's actually slowed down growing some...she weighed in at 5 lbs 12 ounces.  I'm only measuring 1 week large instead of two.  I keep asking him if that means I'll go earlier and he said nope, it just means she's a big baby.  Grrrr...I'm ready for Kalia to get here!!  The great news is that Kalia has flipped so she's no longer breach!!!  WOO HOO!!!  She just flipped on Thursday, and I can sort of breathe again.  It's amazing how much I took that for granted!

We had an amazing baby shower this past weekend in Melbourne.  The three of us are so lucky and fortunate and blessed to have so many people that love us and already love Kalia so much!  When my professional photographer (aka Uncle Jason) uploads some pictures...errr...his assistant uploads pictures (aka Aunt Jennifer!), I'll post them!  I could write pages upon pages about how thankful I am for everything this past weekend, but since this will be a long post already, I'll hold off.  But I am so thankful!!!!!!!!!!

We had our 35 week checkup yesterday.  They hooked me up to the monitors, and we listened to Kalia's heartbeat for awhile.  Everything is still looking good!

We get to wait an entire week before seeing the doctor again.  I really hope I'm not jinxing myself by writing that.

I'm getting bigger by the minute these days it seems.  Since she's flipped, I'm also having the first trimester pee urges every hour or so.  My feet started swelling yesterday, and I took off my wedding ring until after my delivery.  No need to risk some weird complication with that one!

Also since she's flipped, I'm feeling her move a lot more.  I think it's because she has more room to kick around.  She definitely had to be cramped being sideways!!  Too bad her flipping didn't make me look any longer or leaner!

I feel...excited, am filled with anticipation, and I really am ready for her to get here.  I could care less what else I don't have done...it'll all work out.  I just can't wait to see her already!!  I don't like the feeling of not being able to do as much, but I'm already well there.  I get tired way more easily, and just get to the point where I'm done and need to rest NOW.  I think that means she's coming soon!!  Haha, just let me keep believing that, okay?!  It's my happy place!!!

T minus 4 weeks and 6 days!!!!!
