This week, Kalia:
- had a play date at our home with her little friends Harper, Aila, and Reese. The girls played hard and were all so cute together. At the end they started to get tired (Harper had already gone home to take a nap!), so we put them all in the crib together, and I think they got their second wind. They were all hollering and jumping up and down and it was just mass chaos. So much fun and so cute!
- can sit straight up on her knees. Before she had to sit on her butt to hold herself up, but now she can balance while sitting on her knees too...I think she likes it this way so she's ready to go in an instant!
- nixed carrots in her food. She was still pooping seven to eight times a day after we omitted the blueberries, so we got rid of the carrots (she threw them up the last time we gave them to her), and she went back down to 2-3 times a day. Thank goodness!
- had a rough rough sleep week. We headed to Melbourne Thursday night at her bedtime. We forgot the baby gates, so we had to go back, and missed our magic sleep window. We stopped prior to getting on 275 and fed her, and finally got her to go to sleep. About 45 minutes out, the sunpass dropped from the window onto the dash with a loud bang. Chris and I both had our hands up in the air saying "why?!???" I finally got her to calm down by looking at pictures of herself on my phone. She fought going to sleep at all once we got there though and it was the wee hours of the morning before we finally got her down (and not in our bed). Friday night she was up every hour or two, Saturday after waking up a few times prior to us going to sleep, she finally slept for a 6 hour stretch, and then Sunday I don't recall her sleeping at all. Well, she was awake from about 1130 until 330, and then was up for good at 530. Rough rough week of sleeping all around!
- went on her first boat ride! She wasn't sure about it at first (probably because we had her all bundled up and a life jacket on) and then decided it was relaxing and started to fall asleep! We were going out to lunch though, so she woke up to eat lunch and made it back before falling asleep for her afternoon nap.
- has become a serious baby again when she's put into a new situation. I had forgotten how serious she used to be all of the time, but that side of her showed up while we were in Melbourne. She was busy taking everything in!
- went to Yulander's first birthday party on Superbowl Sunday! She cried when she first got there - she was overwhelmed by all of the new people, but then did better playing with the toys and Yulander and eventually warmed up to everyone...except the men. Daddy has thought her to not like men besides her Grandpa's and every time one of them would talk to her, she'd start crying. She is pretty tough with playing though...she likes to go for gaulging out the eyes and crawling over people, not around.
- is quite vocal. When she's excited, she yells...when she's upset, she yells...and she's started babbling a lot more too!
- gave Nancy a hard time on Monday night while we were at volleyball. She woke up an hour after we put her down and screamed at Nancy for 5-10 minutes. Nancy said it was something along the lines of "YOU ARE NOT MY MOMMA!!!!!!!!" We know the scream...she gives it to Chris when he goes in in the middle of the night. Nancy managed to distract her to calm her down though before we got home...thanks Nancy!!!
- went to storytime on Tuesday up at the library. There was a 2 year old boy there that hit her upside the head with one of the cushions that you're supposed to use to sit on, and if looks could kill, that little boy would've been dead. She just glared at him and then continued on her way very matter of factly. He hit her over the head with a train later on and she yelled at him and then kept playing. If she was coordinated to punch, I think she might've done so. I've got to be careful with her!
- does not like edamame. She was up on her birthday night every single hour until 4 a.m. and then she finally slept until 7 a.m. with gas. We eliminated the edamame and she did fine after that.
- came back from Melbourne with a rash. I was hoping she didn't take after me with her skin and stomach, but I think she does.
- has outgrown her 9 month sleepers, and is pushing it in her 12 month ones. They're supposed to be tight, but, well, not that tight!
- outgrew her 6-12 month shoes. She is officially in a size 2. I have no idea how her feet grew so quickly, but they were tiny one night and big the next day!
- can now reach her 2nd bookshelf, and is very proud of herself for it! So far no climbing...
- added na na na na to her list of babbling.
I didn't have the patience to do another round of pictures this week, and we ran out of time after Chris got home (and after we got her 8 month birthday pictures), so this weeks pictures aren't the greatest again. Kalia knows that I want her to sit still for the picture, so she crawls off or turns around, squeals in delight, and then gets herself off the chair and goes and plays with her books. I need to grow two more arms to keep her in place!
 |
"No no no, I want to play with my books, not smile for a picture!" |
 |
"This is so funny...I love giving Mommy a hard time!!!" |
 |
"Ready to catch me Mommy?? Well, ready or not, here I come!!" |
This was after tossing her back into the pillow. Mid-flight, she's already trying to come forward to get off the chair! So impossible!
Oh well, she's still the cutest baby in the whole world and I still love her so much!!!
