This week, Kalia :
- likes to throw her little holey ball. She actually can throw it pretty far. Kodi decided to get in on the action and started retrieving it. After a few times of bringing the ball to me and then me giving it to Kalia, Kodi finally started giving it to Kalia. She thought that was great and immediately decided the ball needed to go right back in Kodi's mouth. No fetch, just eat. And then she needed to eat the other end. Those two crack me up most days!
- thoroughly enjoys going for walks around our neighborhood. It takes her about 25 minutes to go .10 miles, but that's partially because she gets a little distracted by things like leaves, sticks, dirt piles, plants, and most everything. She absolutely loves it when the neighborhood dogs come out to play!
- loves to show everyone where her belly button is.
- knows where your ears, nose, mouth, and eyes are. If you ask her where each thing is, she'll point them out correctly.
- knows where Mommy, Daddy, and Kodi are too. Chris went round and round asking her where one of the three of us was in a million different orders, and she pointed to the correct one of us every time.
- went over to Melbourne for Aunt Jessica's wedding and got car sick on the way over there - twice. The first time I just thought she had an upset stomach, but realized after the second time that she pulled her blanket off of the window both times and with her big girl car seat, she can now see out. She was fine around town traveling, but when the cars got fast on the interstate, she wasn't so fine anymore. Lots o puke everywhere. I guess she christened her new car seat! That's our last big trip with her rear facing, so hopefully facing forward solves that problem the next go round.
- went to bed late all weekend long, still took two naps, and did really really well. She's such a people person. After she 'gets to know you', she loves being goofy with everyone. The stimulation and plethora of family and friends around all weekend made for one happy little girl!
- did well with putting herself to sleep before we went to Melbourne and after we got home for naps and bedtime, with the exception of Monday night (the day we got back home). In Melbourne, we just put her to sleep rocking her...all rules go out the window when we travel!
- loves "yay"ing everything. It means yes, she's happy, and she likes what you're doing, or look at what she's doing. She pointed up the stairs at Grandma and Grandpa Drago's house and I walked up there to nurse her, and she clapped her hands with a big smile on her face while we were going up the stairs.
- learned how to stick out her tongue. Thanks Grandpa Drago (grrrr!!!). Now when she doesn't want to go down for a nap, she sticks her tongue out at me and then says "alllll done!". She even gets it in context!
- took quite a few steps, and actually spent the majority of her birthday walking around. Apparently she likes to just show off for Mommy though. As soon as Chris came home, she went back to majority crawling with some walking here and there. And when I get the video camera out, she sits down and "yay"s herself. Goofy girl!
- loves her little shoes. We're supposed to make sure they're bendable so it doesn't impair her ability to walk, and keep her barefoot around the house. She'll get her little pink shoes out of her shoe basket, try to put them on her feet, and holler at me until I come sit down with her and put them on, and then go to the door. The only two times she is still is when I'm putting her shoes on or when she's sleeping! She's in a size 3 right now, but is rapidly approaching a size 4.
- officially outgrew her 12 month pj's. They've been looking quite a bit snug, so it's time to retire them. They're supposed to be pants and shirts, not belly shirts and capri's.
- had a great birthday. We walked around the neighborhood, spent about an hour playing down at the neighbors house (new-ish neighbor with two boys ages two and three, and a 6 year old little girl), and then played in the big sprinkler that we set out to water the new lawn with me before bedtime. Video coming shortly!
I think I've figured out the 5 a.m. wake up issue too. Kalia didn't wake up at 5 a.m. once while we were in Melbourne, and then did it again as soon as we got home. That's when our sprinklers are set to go off, and the neighbors across the street. I'm not sure if it's when the next door neighbors goes off too, but she's really sensitive to hearing those types of things, and I'm pretty positive that's what gets her up. Off to the neighbors I go!!
Onto pictures...she insisted that I put on her shoes before she'd sit in the chair, so that's why she has shoes on this week!

"Really Mommy? More pictures? Are you sure it's already Tuesday?!? Can we just go for a walk? I've already got my shoes on and everything!!" |
 |
"Okay, now can we go for a walk? No? I have to smile first??" |
 |
"Fine, I'll smile!!! There...lets go!" |
Is it just me or do those legs look incredibly long this week?! I can't believe we're down to 5 more weeks before she's the big ONE! Where did the last year go?!?!
