Kalia and Kodi Video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYil04MtFIU

32 week bonus pictures

As usual, I took entirely too many pictures this week.  I actually filtered out a ton and still didn't do the greatest at eliminating them.  Kalia's just doing so many new and adventurous things, it's hard!!  And she's too cute :-)!

Kalia playing in her playroom.  She can get a lot of her toys out of her toy baskets and makes a mess in here.  It's okay though, that's what this room is for!!  She likes to use her bigger toys as 'walkers'.  She pushes them around and walks behind them.

Just one of her many hatred faces of peas.  I set the camera on the table and would just push it after a bite.  Being the ham that she is, she'd stop throwing a fit and look at it.  She doesn't want everyone else to see these faces, just Mommy!

"Seriously Mommy, why can't I just eat fruit?!  This stuff is disgusting too!"
"Oh shoot, I didn't see the camera there.  Hi everyone!!  I'm smiling!!"
A few of the many hilarious moments between Kalia and Kodi since installing her prison yard.

Kalia : "I miss you."
Kodi : "I miss you too."

Kodi : "Mom...why must you separate us?!"
Kalia : "Mommy, can Kodi please come in?  Or let me out please?!  I miss him so much!"

Kalia : "Oh my goodness Kodi, you really need to come in here.  It's so much fun in here, there's so many amazing toys!!  Come on, Mommy left the door open, come play with me!!"
Kodi : "I'm better trained than that.  Sigh...I pretended to be annoyed with you, but I really miss you."

I haven't posted any jumperoo pictures in awhile.  I actually moved it from her playroom to the kitchen / living room area.  It's a great way to keep her entertained and contained at the same time in a different location.  So I can do things...like make lunch, cook dinner, or pee.  Necessities!!  She still loves it (and Sophie too!).  And she still stands on her toes, even though when she's not mid jump, she has to squat a ton to keep on her toes.  We need to set it one setting higher.

More play room fun!  This is one of her new smiles.  She's laughing and smiling at me in this one.  I think she's getting close to be able to wave hi too.  We're working on it!

 Bear Crawling!!

If Kalia has gotten a good nap (an hour or more), this is what I walk into find.  She is getting so so big!!!

Kalia was really cute all day this day...so there's a ton from here!

She doesn't like to get dressed, so sometimes we put on one thing, play, then put on another thing, then play...I try to sneak dress her.  She loves to use the drawer handles to pull herself up.  Good thing I know they're sturdy!

I don't know what I'm going to do when I can't use the crib to contain her anymore.  She was into everything at lightening speed this day, so I put her in there while I finished what I was doing.  She kept trying to hit the light switch, but couldn't reach it yet.

She loves loves loves outside time and exploring!  The towel is semi pointless though...she doesn't stay on it for very long.

After awhile of crawling around and getting exhausted, I got her to lie down on her back and watch the tree branches blowing in the wind.  She still loves to look at the trees!

...and then she rolled over to play some more!

After Kalia's nap...I sing a song to her when I walk in, and she puts her head sideways and gives me a huge grin while I sing it.  So cute!

And then she reminds me that she's fake teething and eats the top of her crib.

Being silly with Daddy before bedtime.

For all the sad looking pictures of her wanting to get out of her prison yard, she kept hollering at me here to let her back in!
Mis-adventures with Roomba.
"Cool, what does this button do??"
"Ohmygoodness...you're alive!!!  No no no no no!!!"
Playing in her room...note she's not playing with her toys...but the curtains...oiy!

First time with broccoli!  She normally likes to hold and chew on the actual food, but she didn't like the whole broccoli either.  I like for her to see what it is that she's eating though if possible.
More fun time in the jumperoo!
Giving Kodi a treat for the first time!

Kodi :  "Seriously?!?!  You have got to be kidding me.  She gets MY treats too?!  Is there nothing left for me?!"

I know, I know...I've got to get better at filtering!!!  'Till next week...

Happy 32 week Birthday Kalia!

This week, Kalia :
  • ate peas for the first time and thought they were disgusting.  When Chris was a little boy, he'd put his peas in a napkin in the window sill to hide them and he told his little brother Shawn "we don't eat peas".  Chris eats peas now, but Shawn still says "we don't eat peas."  Kalia agrees with her Uncle Shawn.
  • broke her fever on Thursday...yay!
  • got a rash on Friday, boo.  I stopped giving her the peas because I thought maybe that was it.  One of my girlfriends told me though that after her daughter has a virus, when the fever is gone and she's completely better, she breaks out in a rash.  Kalia's into everything these days, so who knows what it is.  Regardless, she didn't mind us cutting out the peas in her diet!
  • slept pretty well Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night.  Not amazing, but 6+ hours in a stretch, which felt pretty amazing after being up and down all night with her being sick.  Technically 6 hours is considered sleeping through the night (whomever deemed that didn't have an infant that went to bed at 6 p.m. and woke up at midnight...doesn't seem like sleeping through the night to this tired Momma!!).
  • started pretend teething again on Sunday.  She's shoving everything into her mouth and chomping, chomping, chomping again, is soaking through her clothes again, and has been up repeatidly throughout the night chomping on her hands and screaming crying.  We give her Tylenol, which takes a bit to kick in, and she's awake and hollering (if you leave her in her crib) until it does kick in, and then she repeats the whole process 4 hours after waking up again.  Which means I'm getting anywhere from 2.5 - 3.5 hours in a stretch, then I'm up for an hour or so, and then repeating.  I think Kalia and her cousin Maddie are confused.  Kalia's acting like a newborn, and Maddie is doing pretty well with sleeping!  In 18 years or so those chompers will come in...sigh.
  • thinks getting her diaper changed is torture.  The magic changing pad has turned into the torture chamber.  We have to do the hokey pokey and a circus act to get her to let us change her diaper without her screaming.  She has places to go and people to see, she doesn't have time for a stinkin' diaper change!!  Although, if she's pooped...she will not sit in it for any amount of time at all.  That stuff has to come off now, but she'll still be mad while you're doing it.
  • beats herself up when she's tired and it's time for a nap or bedtime.  She puts her little hand into a balled up fist and literally whacks herself upside the head repeatedly.  Chris says she's saying "go to sleep, go to sleep, go to sleep" to herself.  I think she's trying to tell her brain to turn off.
  • is eating three times a day now.  She eats at least 2 ounces for breakfast, and 2-4 ounces for lunch and dinner.  She's eating off of me quite a bit less too during the day.  I'd love to say the same is true at night, ha, but with the sickness / fake teething going on, that's not the case!
  • still thinks Kodi is the greatest thing in the entire world.  I agree!  I can't tell you how many times she's throwing a fit and I call him in to calm her down.  He's a great distraction!
  • gave Kodi a treat for the first time on her 32 week birthday.  He was really gentle with trying to take it from her, and she thought it was a great game of tug 'o war.  They were both very pleased with themselves afterwards!  I have video I'll upload of her giving him a treat for the 2nd time that night.
  • loves to play 'explore' with Mommy.  I put her down not in her safe zone and say "lets explore!!".  I go wherever she goes, and she'll stop and look at me, giggle, and then keep going.  It helps me figure out what we still need to baby proof, and also helps me teach her no.  I find myself using the same commands I use on Kodi though.  She's not going to know "no touch", she's going to know "leave it".  Oops!  Kodi's well trained though!  Some of the times she does well with no and leave it, and some of the times she stops, smiles at me, and then goes ahead and does what she wanted to.  I repeat myself and change directions with her or make a big deal out of her reaching for something else that she's allowed to have.
  • is scared to death of the roomba.  If she's not going to hurt herself with it, I let her see what things do, and the roomba was one of those things.  She managed to turn it on, yelped, and crawled super speed to my lap.
  • started this new thing where she 'bear crawls'.  Instead of normal crawling, she puts her butt straight up into the air and crawls with her knees up.  I thought initially it was because our hard wood floors hurt her knees or something, but she'll do it on her rug and our carpet.  She's a goof!
  • decided being a monkey was fun.  Her naptimes are a bit of a challenge with all of her mobility.  I was watching her on her monitor while she walked around the crib, and all of the sudden she took her first hand off of the crib and grabbed the top of her mobile, then took the second hand off and thought it was great that she was hanging from her mobile.  She was so proud.  I ran in and rescued her and took the little birdies off her mobile (the top part of the mobile came down later that day!).  After that she decided that she didn't really like Mommy being able to watch what she's doing so she reached over outside of her crib and pulled on the wire that supplies the power for the camera.  I moved her crib off from the wall some so she can't reach it.  She's also managed to hold onto to both the top of her crib and the top of her prison yard gates and pull up hard enough to get both feet off of the ground.  I'm praying that was a one time ordeal and she forgot she can do that!!  Oiy!
  • gets to sleep with a doll in her crib now.  She's done this for a few weeks, but it helps her calm down and go to sleep.  We actually introduced the doll last week and that's when she went 10-12 hours.  I'd like the magic doll to work it's sleeping magic again.
  • ate broccoli for the first time on her 32 week birthday.  She doesn't love it, but it's not carrots or peas, so there's some improvement!
Kalia and I both got better at the same time...my hives cleared up on Thursday.  On Sunday I decided to take off and go for a long run to burn off some stress to hopefully deter the hives from coming back.  I ran 7 miles in 62 minutes and 15 seconds.  I left while Kalia was napping, left Kodi at home this time, and took off with just my ipod and my watch.  I turned the music up loud and just went.  It felt amazing!  I don't think I've let myself run like that since before I was pregnant.  Much better than hives!

This new crawling thing makes pictures hard.  She isn't interested in stopping and smiling for me at all, and for her weekly pictures, she kept flipping herself over and then trying to crawl off the chair.  At one point she decided she's rather stand up on the chair.  I'm definitely within an arms reach of her when she's on a high surface, and I keep one arm out ready to catch her.  My other arm is going to get strong from holding up my camera one handed...and I have a feeling all of my pictures are going to be off centered for a little while!

She still loves loves loves her feet.

Here's a good action shot of her 'talking' to me and blowing rasberries.  They're combined these days.  Such a silly little girl!

Serious pose...

And this is Kalia's new way of saying "all done" with pictures.

First, we crawl off the pillow...

Then we stand ourselves up to get into position...

It cracks me up how she makes her bottom lip disappear when she's concentrating on something these days.  She's like a little old man without any teeth!

...then we climb down!

Yeah, if that were me, my legs would break!!  She was so proud of herself when she turned around.  She's loving her mobility!

Goodbye Feet

You officially disappeared yesterday.  I look down every day when I take a shower to see if you're still there, and yesterday you disappeared.  Hopefully less than 8 weeks and I'll see you again!!

Or, I could just lean over...but you look so tiny and so far away when I do that now!!

How funny looking is this?!  Hello tiny little feet!
If anyone sees me walking around with mismatched shoes or sandles on, just ignore it.  I can't see it anyways!

My neighbor Nancy says I'll know when I'm ready to pop when I'm wearing Chris's shoes because my feet and ankles are so swollen.

I hope that really isn't the case...these boats look ridiculous on me!!  Thankfully I still fit into my own shoes / sandals!

I had allergy shots today, and there was a lady that's three months pregnant with her third child and she couldn't BELIEVE that I was 32 weeks.  She kept telling me how tiny I looked and how I'm all belly, and the rest of me looks absolutely amazing.  She said when I walked away that she wouldn't even be able to tell I was pregnant from my behind side.  Woot!

I ran an errand afterwards and got asked how far along I was by the store clerk and she had the same reaction.  She asked how I've stayed so small everywhere else and just managed to gain in the belly.  I told her I feel like a house, but thanks!

I think I need to get out more often.  Even though I'm a firm believer that most people will tell a pregnant lady they look amazing and wonderful even if they're wearing a pillowcase and look like poo, it's so nice to hear it!!  ESPECIALLY when you feel like a house!

32 week checkup

Today was the follow up ultra-sound from last week.  He looked around, took measurements, and told us that everything looks good.  I asked if she was normal sized, and he replied "and then some".  She's not growing too quick too fast like we had previously worried about, but she is already a large baby.  Today she weighed in at 4 lbs 11 ounces!!  Holy cow!!  She's still got 8 weeks to go!!

I will have to have another ultra sound in a month because she's ... transverse ... or something like that.  I forget the word he used, but what it means is that her head is on my left side, her bottom is on my right side, and her legs are down towards my cervix.  So he needs to make sure she flips within the next month because I can't deliver her in her current position.  He said no worries for now though, unless I have more than 4 contractions in an hour, leak fluid, or start bleeding.

He hooked me up to the monitor for 20-30 minutes and said her heart rate and my contractions (I had none) looked good.  He thinks that I'm feeling less movement because of her position.  He also said my excess thirst, headaches, and nausea could all just be 3rd trimester woes, but he ordered more blood work just to make sure.  He wouldn't be worried about them at all if her movement wasn't down.

I asked if I should avoid fruit / sugars / carbs, and he said no, that wasn't an issue for me or something I needed to worry about (gestational diabetes).  I asked him how long it took for my blood sugar to return back to normal on the 3 hour test, and he said I was normal...actually low...at the first reading, which was a good sign.  So, I must've not have fasted long enough for the first test.

Because of her slowing movements though, he did want to see me back next week instead of every two weeks.  At 36 weeks I start going every week anyways, so I might get to skip week 34, but after that, it's a weekly thing.

All in all today's check up was really good.  I was nervous / scared about it, but most of my worries are gone now!  'Cept the whole 'she needs to flip' thing.  But...I've still got a month to try to coax her around.  I asked if any of the old wives tales work with getting her to flip and he said no :-), but I could talk to her and try to convince her if I wanted to!!

Exactly 8 weeks until my due date...it's rapidly approaching!!
