34 week bonus pictures

Kalia feeding Kodi...look at his tongue.  I guess he's helping build up her immune system by exposing her to germs!

So happy with herself after feeding her furry brother...

Working with Mommy before heading out to breast feeding support group...

Poor Kodi...

My two goof balls...

Kodi whispering sweet nothings in Kalia's ear (she thinks this is hilarious!).

Our nightly ritual of giving Kodi a treat before bedtime.  Notice how it's not in her mouth...she's learning!

Fun time in her prison play yard!
"Anybody out there?!"
"Yay!!!  Kodi, you came to play with me!!!"
"Um, Mommy, can Kodi come in to play please??"
Kalia's new favorite thing is to climb in the baskets to play with her toys...

She was so cute here ... her doll basket is soft, and she was tired, so she took to chomping on her doll with the pacifier (she won't suck it, just chews on it...for those pretend teeth she's got going on...) and taking a rest..

Getting ready to head out for a jog!  She really only likes to go 2-3 miles, and then she wants to get out and crawl around.

Happy girl with her new necklace!

She also got a rash on her belly this week, but it went away within a day or two.  There's no telling with how much she's into what caused it.  She has my sensitive skin, so she reacts to everything.  It doesn't slow her down much though!  Look how cute her little pot belly is here!!

On a mission...she's got her tongue out and everything...

Looking awfully guilty about something (and cute too!)...

We cleaned out the garage this weekend and brought her jumperoo out with us to keep her entertained for some of the time so I could help Chris move the heavy stuff.  I was pretty much useless when Kalia was awake though, she's way more fun than cleaning out the garage!!  At one point I had a sheet of plywood under one arm and Kalia under the other.  I guess not much slows me down either!  Ha!

Kalia 'helping' me clean her face.  She likes to hold the sponge...but I don't let her eat it!

We met up with Uncle Jason and Ashlyn at Sonny's on Monday.  Kalia thinks her Uncle Jason is a big goof ball...which is just the way she likes people!

Kalia had a rough night (argh blueberries!!!), so in the morning I brought her into bed with me and put her in a milk coma.  She slept there for almost 3 hours.  I just put up a pillow barrier around her and kept going in to check on her.  I put her to sleep the other way, but she does this same thing in her crib...she likes to sleep the wrong way on the bed.  So sweet, so innocent...so cute!

Kalia loves her books and her book shelves.  She can play with those things for hours.  She actually does well with not getting all of the books down at once, just a few, then playing, then a few more, then playing.  We read a lot around here...I love it!

'Till next week...

Happy 34 week Birthday Kalia!

This week, Kalia :

  • weighed in at 19 lbs at breast feeding support group.  She's into a lot of her 12 month clothes already!
  • pulls herself up on anything and everything...including random people.  Anytime I take her anyplace new, she takes a few minutes to warm up, and then just takes off.  If you smile at her, she thinks you're okay.
  • has officially started babbling.  She will occasionally make the ga ga noise, says ma ma ma ma and ba ba ba ba a lot, and started to make the da da noise on her 34 week birthday.  She doesn't really associate anything with her babbling yet, even though I make a big deal everytime she says 'ma ma'.  She just thinks I think she's funny.
  • went through a horrible teething night on Wednesday night and was up every two hours.  On Thursday I decided she wasn't getting enough milk, so I pumped and started feeding her rice cereal with milk mixed in with her food.  I also got her an amber necklace that's supposed to be a natural aid for teeth pain (read here to learn more :  http://hyenacart.com/inspiredbyfinn/mt/713/14913/What-is-Baltic-Amber-How-Can-it-Help-Us).  Some of the girls in one of the play groups swear by them.  I got it Thursday afternoon and Kalia slept from 540 p.m. until 4 a.m.!  I don't know if it was more milk or the magic necklace, but I'd do the hokey pokey 300 times to get that kind of sleep around these parts!  She did well on Thursday and then sort of okay on Friday, and then ...
  • ate blueberries for the first time.  I think these are causing her bad stomach issues.  On Monday she pooped ELEVEN times.  She woke up to strain to poop quite a few times from sleep.  We're cutting those out of her diet and are hoping that's the problem.
  • has decided she loves to make Mommy and Daddy play fetch.  I guess it's payback.  While she's eating in her high chair, she throws her toys over the top and then smiles at us.  After a couple of seconds she stops smiling and starts hollering...she wants her toys back!
  • likes to feed Kodi off of her high chair too.  She likes to rub her hand in her food, smear it all over her tray, and then hold her hand out for Kodi to lick.  She laughs, laughs, laughs.  Both of our kiddos think this is great!
  • decided that independent play while at volleyball at Monday night was for the birds.  She made it through one point of the first game before she started hollering.  The old guy George picked her up, which she was okay with this week (no dirty dipe - yay!).  She was a little bit much for him though...she thought his glasses were cool and needed to come off of his face and into her mouth.  The guy Bill we play with had a strained knee, so he went out and held her and she chewed on her Sophie and watched Mommy and Daddy play and was really well behaved for the rest of the three games.  She doesn't have stranger anxiety...she just has to warm up to people for about the first 5 minutes, and then if you smile at her, she thinks you're fun!
  • went to story time on her 34 week birthday and after warming up, thought it was fun fun fun to crawl at mach 100 and get into everything.  She tried to knock over the easels with big art on them, used anyone and everything to pull herself up on, and thought the art work that was hung lower needed to be hit and pulled on.  Thankfully she didn't ruin anything!  They people there said they've never seen a baby crawl so fast.  She made a lot of friends though with pulling herself up on everyone!
  • started jumping up and down while holding onto things when she's excited.
  • rolls her tongue a lot...she babbles, squeals really loudly when she gets excited, or rolls her tongue.  Contrary to what all of yall think :-), she gets the loud squeal from her Daddy.  When he gets home from work those two squeal and yell back and forth at each other.  I need to teach Chris how to use his inside voice, hehe!
I think I say this every week, and every week I think it gets more impossible...but the pictures were the hardest thing this week.   After Chris got home, we went for another round.  It was a bit easier with him holding her down and being there to catch her when she decided she was all done, but ... well, you'll see!

I kept tossing her back (literally tossing) into the pillow and sitting back and snapping a picture really quickly and then catching her as she'd crawl off the chair.  She knew what she was doing and thought it was really funny to give Mommy such a hard time!

So I tried pinning her into the chair / pillow by wedging her head into the corner of the chair, which she also thought was hilarious for about 2 seconds before she crawled off again.

And then when Daddy came home, we tried again.  He had to literally hold her down every time, so Daddy is in these pictures too!  She is such a silly girl and thought this was a really fun game!

It is hard to keep our little cruiser still these days!!

33 week bonus pictures

I took too many again...maybe next week I'll calm down some...

Kalia doesn't always wake up in the happiest of moods (hmmm...wonder if that's inherited too!), so I sing a little song to her.  I must turn my head sideways while I sing it because half of the time she turns her head sideways during part of the song.

And then she stands up all excited that I'm there.  It's nice to be so loved!

Treat time with Kodi before bed...it makes both of our kiddos happy!!

 Outside playtime with Kodi!

"Hey Kodi, whatcha up to?!"

"Oh Kodi, I love you!!!"
Excited piano time!

Using her high chair as a walker...and so proud of herself while doing it!  She's also really happy because I stopped trying to torture her with milk out of a sippy cup.  She loves water in there...and she can drink out of it now without the bottle nipple, but she hates milk in there still.

Kalia and I before heading to her playdate!

The weather was really really nice out this weekend, so we brought Kalia's jumperoo outside and enjoyed our morning coffee out on the pool deck...we haven't done that in awhile!  Daddy raised Kalia's jumperoo one setting.  This is her getting ready to take off for a jump ...

...and her up in the air.  I think she was ready for this next setting!

Play time at the park with her furry brother...

Using Kodi to stand up on...

Getting upset because she can't figure out how to crawl down the slope and Kodi won't come to her!

Playing in her toy baskets.  I thought these would be great because she can climb all over them and not hurt herself.  They are also great as a toy...she loves getting in there and playing!

Getting ready to go to the beach in her cutie bathing suit!

Yay the beach!!!  She was so so excited here and took off mach 100 for the sand...

...but decided she wanted nothing to do with the white stuff that stuck all over her.

The water cooler, however, was great fun.  She's banging on it and squealing in delight here.  So funny!

After about an hour at the beach we headed to the little play ground and let Kalia swing on the swings.  That, she loved!!

Chris decided he was going to teach Kalia hand/eye coordination one night and took the tape measure and held it high above her head and then slowly brought it down while going in circles.  If she grabbed it, we'd yell "yay!!", and she'd yell too.  Ignore the tape on the wall...you know us, always in the middle of something around here.

Kalia has discovered her books and how to get them off of the shelves.  I'm completely 100% okay with this...I want her to like her books.  She can spend a loong loong time pulling her books off and then playing with them.  Sometimes she waits for me to get to the end before going and getting off another one...sometimes she flips through a few pages, chews on them, and then goes to get more.

 More outside play time...

Getting all excited to head over to the ottoman.  She loves pulling herself up on that, and then beating the top of it.  Goofy girl!

You'll notice this week that there's a lot less of her looking at the camera and smiling at me.  She's too busy...she doesn't have time to stop and smile.  I asked her to smile here, and this is the face I got.  I have a feeling I'll get a lot more of these "humor me" smiles at time goes on!

Walking around her room using the wall as support.  She'll go from the dresser to the wall to the door to the bookshelves...

...and then to her closet.  Again, I'm 100% okay with her 'finding' all of this...at least right now I am!  I think it's great that we worked so hard to make this room something she'll love, and she does!  It's like an obstacle course with lots and lots of fun stuff in there for her right now.

"What to wear...what to wear...this dress looks cute!"
"I don't know though, these overalls look pretty cute too.  Hmmm...decisions, decisions!!"
She loves loves splashing around in her bathtub!

She was pretty tired this day though...all that splashing wore her out too, so she decided to flip herself around and take a little break.  I can't stand how cute she is some days!!

Saying night night to Kodi before we kick him out of her room.  I actually went to go hang her towel back up in the bathroom and came back to find this.  So stinkin cute!

Daddy and Kalia all excited getting ready to go on their first date together!  (Play time at the Countryside Library).

The End!  Whew!
