33 week bonus pictures

I took too many again...maybe next week I'll calm down some...

Kalia doesn't always wake up in the happiest of moods (hmmm...wonder if that's inherited too!), so I sing a little song to her.  I must turn my head sideways while I sing it because half of the time she turns her head sideways during part of the song.

And then she stands up all excited that I'm there.  It's nice to be so loved!

Treat time with Kodi before bed...it makes both of our kiddos happy!!

 Outside playtime with Kodi!

"Hey Kodi, whatcha up to?!"

"Oh Kodi, I love you!!!"
Excited piano time!

Using her high chair as a walker...and so proud of herself while doing it!  She's also really happy because I stopped trying to torture her with milk out of a sippy cup.  She loves water in there...and she can drink out of it now without the bottle nipple, but she hates milk in there still.

Kalia and I before heading to her playdate!

The weather was really really nice out this weekend, so we brought Kalia's jumperoo outside and enjoyed our morning coffee out on the pool deck...we haven't done that in awhile!  Daddy raised Kalia's jumperoo one setting.  This is her getting ready to take off for a jump ...

...and her up in the air.  I think she was ready for this next setting!

Play time at the park with her furry brother...

Using Kodi to stand up on...

Getting upset because she can't figure out how to crawl down the slope and Kodi won't come to her!

Playing in her toy baskets.  I thought these would be great because she can climb all over them and not hurt herself.  They are also great as a toy...she loves getting in there and playing!

Getting ready to go to the beach in her cutie bathing suit!

Yay the beach!!!  She was so so excited here and took off mach 100 for the sand...

...but decided she wanted nothing to do with the white stuff that stuck all over her.

The water cooler, however, was great fun.  She's banging on it and squealing in delight here.  So funny!

After about an hour at the beach we headed to the little play ground and let Kalia swing on the swings.  That, she loved!!

Chris decided he was going to teach Kalia hand/eye coordination one night and took the tape measure and held it high above her head and then slowly brought it down while going in circles.  If she grabbed it, we'd yell "yay!!", and she'd yell too.  Ignore the tape on the wall...you know us, always in the middle of something around here.

Kalia has discovered her books and how to get them off of the shelves.  I'm completely 100% okay with this...I want her to like her books.  She can spend a loong loong time pulling her books off and then playing with them.  Sometimes she waits for me to get to the end before going and getting off another one...sometimes she flips through a few pages, chews on them, and then goes to get more.

 More outside play time...

Getting all excited to head over to the ottoman.  She loves pulling herself up on that, and then beating the top of it.  Goofy girl!

You'll notice this week that there's a lot less of her looking at the camera and smiling at me.  She's too busy...she doesn't have time to stop and smile.  I asked her to smile here, and this is the face I got.  I have a feeling I'll get a lot more of these "humor me" smiles at time goes on!

Walking around her room using the wall as support.  She'll go from the dresser to the wall to the door to the bookshelves...

...and then to her closet.  Again, I'm 100% okay with her 'finding' all of this...at least right now I am!  I think it's great that we worked so hard to make this room something she'll love, and she does!  It's like an obstacle course with lots and lots of fun stuff in there for her right now.

"What to wear...what to wear...this dress looks cute!"
"I don't know though, these overalls look pretty cute too.  Hmmm...decisions, decisions!!"
She loves loves splashing around in her bathtub!

She was pretty tired this day though...all that splashing wore her out too, so she decided to flip herself around and take a little break.  I can't stand how cute she is some days!!

Saying night night to Kodi before we kick him out of her room.  I actually went to go hang her towel back up in the bathroom and came back to find this.  So stinkin cute!

Daddy and Kalia all excited getting ready to go on their first date together!  (Play time at the Countryside Library).

The End!  Whew!

Happy 33 week Birthday Kalia!

This week, Kalia :

  • is trying to stand without holding on.  So far she can do it for about 2 seconds without falling, and does it all on her own.  She'll pull herself up on one of her toys...even the little ones...and then take one hand off of the toy, then try to take the other hand off of the toy, stand for her 2 seconds, fall, and then repeat the cycle.  She tumbled and rolled about 6 feet hard one day, all the way to the glass slider, turned herself over, and crawled right back to the toy she was playing with.  She's tough!
  • bumps her head a lot on things from doing the above and because she pulls herself up on everything, and doesn't necessarily look for handles or anything else sticking out above her head.
  • loved her avocado, banana, and apple mixture that her Daddy made for her!
  • did not love her mashed potatoes, but didn't hate them either.  I'd give her a big bite of potatoes and put a little bit of her fruit mixture on the edge and she'd eat it that way.
  • fake teethed pretty badly all week.  She was up every 4 hours from the Tylenol...rough nights!
  • had a play date with 5 other little babies ranging from one boy being 4 days younger than her to 22 months.  She did so amazing there!  She crawled all around, pulled herself up on everything, played with the other little ones, smiled, laughed, 'talked', and was so happy.  After 2+ hours of solid playing, I got her in the car and she passed out on the way home (40 minutes).  When we got home, I nursed her, then she went back to sleep for another almost 2 hours!
  • has added giving Kodi a treat every night to her nightly bedtime routine.  She's actually has semi stopped trying to put his treat in her mouth and holds out her hand to give it to him now.  So cute!  Kodi tries to hang out in her room now until it's time to put her in her crib.
  • likes to play fetch.  I know this sounds horrible, but, well, it is what it is!  She likes to go after Kodi's soccer ball, and I kick it away from her and she thinks it's great fun to go get it, and then repeat the process.  Kodi has one soccer ball that's seen better days that he just chews on and he plays come and get it with her.  He'll chew on it, and if she gets close, move about 3 feet away and then lay down and start again, and they repeat this for quite some time.  He is great at wearing her out!
  • thinks drinking milk from a sippy cup is disgusting.  She wants it straight from the source, nothing artificial please.  Water, okay...milk, not so much.
  • went to the beach on Sunday and was not a fan of the sand.  She threw a fit when she crawled over to it!  I think she was expecting it to be grass or dirt, and she happily crawled as fast as she could off of our sheet and towel, got to the sand, held her hand up and screamed.  She liked the waves, and she liked it if I touched the water then touched her, but she also did not like actually being in the water.  She yelled loud and clear for me to get her outta there now!!  She loved playing with the water jug though.
  • went to volleyball with us for the first time in a long time.  Nancy has been coming over while Kalia sleeps so we can get out and play, but she's out of town this month, so we just took Kalia with us.  We set her up in her pack n play with a ton of toys, and she did pretty well during the first game and a half.  She played, ate the top of the pack n play, and thought it was great fun to lick the netting and press her face completely against the side of it and watch us play.  She made a really cute cheerleader!  She pooped half way through the second game, and an older guy George that always watches our games picked her up to try to calm her down.  Kalia told him "I don't know you, get me my Mommy or Daddy NOW!!!!"  After Chris changed her diaper, she calmed down some for a little bit, but then decided she was just over the pack n play and wanted Mommy or Daddy back to play with her.  Asking her to self play at her age for over an hour is a little too long I think, especially past her bedtime (the game started at 630).  We definitely miss Nancy!!
  • went on her first play date with just Daddy.  I had gotten a pretty bad migraine and was up getting sick all night Monday night, so Chris worked from home Tuesday morning and took Kalia down to "the power of play" at the library with one of my girlfriends (and Kalia's little friend Reese!).  He was the only Daddy there but said Kalia did really well and it was fun.  He thought it was really cute how much Kalia and Reese like each other.
  • ate, and actually liked, her chicken, sweet potato, and apple mix her Daddy made for her.
  • started chewing on her tongue.  She looks like a goof when she does it!
  • loves to make a new noise which sounds like when you're inhaling really hard because something is about to take your breath away.  She might be doing it from us gasping so much at her when we think she's about to eat it.  She makes the noise when she's really excited though...so goofy!
I don't really plan to do this every week, but I needed another break this weekend, and I took off for an hour running after Kalia went to bed on Saturday.  I ran 7.17 miles in 60 minutes and 9 seconds.  Woot!

Kalia was so so impossible this week with her pictures.  She's gotten really really fast at transitioning herself to the crawling or standing position and refused to actually lay on the pillow for any length of time, and kept trying to crawl right off the chair.  I'm working on "stay."  So far, I'm failing!!

Only when you're pregnant...

Every time I go out in public, I have at least one version of the following conversation...

Random Person : "You look great!  When is your due date?"  (Note : This has changed from asking how far along am I to asking when my due date is...my belly is waaay out there!).

Me :  "Thanks!!  May 30th..."

Random Person : "Oh wow!! May 30th?!  That's right around the corner...you're so tiny!!"

Me : "Haha, thanks!  I feel like a house!"

Random Person : " No way! You're all belly!!"

And then sometimes they go into how huge they got when they got pregnant, or they just wish me the best of luck and carry on their way.

Only when you're pregnant does someone telling you that you're all belly make you the happiest person in the world.  Seriously.  Gotta love these chicken arms of mine...at least they're good for something!!  Or you at least gotta love how nice people are to pregnant women.

But just an FYI, when I get un-pregnant, I do not want to hear that I'm all belly, m'kay?!?!  :-)

33 week checkup

Well, it looks like this might be an every week thing from here on out...

Monday we had our 33 week checkup.  They monitored Kalia's heartbeat and my contractions (still had none) for about 30 minutes and everything looked good.  Her heartbeat was pretty steady, which I think means she was sleeping.  The previous two times she's jumped all over the place, but on Monday her heartbeat stayed right around 148 the whole time.

Last week the doc had me go in and get blood work done to make sure everything was okay and that my symptoms I'm feeling are just 3rd trimester woes.  My white blood count came back high and my red blood cells were small.  He said the red blood cells being small isn't all that uncommon in pregnant women...we're reproducing blood cells so fast and the new ones aren't as mature (large) as the older ones, so that could easily explain that.

Most pregnant women's white blood count is higher, but I guess the normal high is 15 and mine came back at 16.4 or something, so just a little high.  He ordered more blood work to recheck my white blood count and to check if I'm deficient in any vitamins.  He asked if I had been feeling sick, and I told him I can't tell the difference between being sick and being pregnant anymore!  Ha!  I'll find out those results on Monday when we go back in.

I just realized I haven't posted my 'total love gained' for the past 2 months.  I told Chris I'm going to put my hands over my eyes when I go to the scale from now on because it's the most dreaded walk!!  He says I'm doing really well weight wise and size wise.  I'm eating super healthy, and trying to get my sweet tooth fix with sugar free or low sugar things.

This is my lunch almost every day :

Plain greek yogurt with strawberries and splenda on top, topped with whole grain granola and light whipped cream.  And yes, that's a 2 qt pitcher of water with a straw in it.  I'm thirsty.  This is more efficient than getting up 8 trillion times to get yet another glass of water!!

Anyways...total love gained so far...25 lbs.  Oiy...
