Kalia : 16 1/2 months

Some of these things I should've posted at the last post, but they all run together when things are crazy busy! These past few weeks, Kalia :
  • cut two of her molars.  The bottom left and top right ones.  We thought that was some of her sickness symptoms, but it turns out that was just in addition to everything else going on!
  • is on antibiotics for a sinus infection.  The doc said two weeks was too long for her to be sick.  I actually thought it was an ear infection, but her ears looked perfect (minus a little bit of wax - hehe!), and her sinuses looked like a mess.
  • is obsessed with her dolls, in particular the giant one that is almost her size that Grandpa and Grandma Drago got her for her birthday.  She insists of having it when she eats and everything!!
  • loves to sing "ring around the rosie" and fall down.  She'll go around in circles saying "ashes, ashes, fall DOWN!" and fall down.  So cute!
  • insists on everyone being apart of whatever she's doing - be it reading a book, singing a song, or playing with a toy.  If you're in the room, she hollars for you to join.  If I'm doing ring around the rosie with her, she'll yell "DADDY!!!!" if he's home and run and grab him to join...and then she'll yell "KODI!!!!" and Kodi will do it too.  She wants to make sure everyone is included.
  • is talking in mini sentences.  I can't think of anything she doesn't say.  She sort of says her name.  It's "yeeee-ah".  Actually, the only thing she seems not to say is the "K" sound now.  Kodi is "odi".  So she is "lia" instead of Kalia, and L's are pronounced as y's :-).
  • says "NICE!!!" and beats on Kodi and pulls his ears and pulls on his mouth and nose and everything else.  I think she's missing the point of the word!
  • loves to give Kodi hugs and kisses and says "ahhhhh" while doing it.
  • drinks a smoothie before her nap and bedtime.  For the most part, they're pretty awful tasting.  I initially started them as a way to try to keep her in bed at night past 5 a.m. (it worked - when she sleeps :-)), but they helped tremendously with the next bullet.  I basically do a compost of what she didn't eat for the day with the exception of meat.  Any oatmeal, veggies, or fruit, all goes into the blender.  I add a little bit of greek yogurt and some peanut butter if she hasn't had enough good fats for the day (pretty much she gets peanut butter if she didn't eat an avocado that day), spinach, and a few pieces of frozen fruit.  She slurps it down!
  • is officially weaned.  100%.  Daddy has started putting her to bed at nights and some naps on the weekends and she does great either way - yay!  To be honest, I got a little teary when it happened, it was such a great bonding time with her, and she doesn't really give too much down time lovin', so that will be missed, but it was definitely time!
  • loves to finger paint.  We've done it a few times, and she's more into it when it's just her and I (because she wants everyone else to be involved I think!).  I think she paints her body more than the cardboard, but it's all in good fun!
  • says "yay yellow!!!" all of the time.  Everything is (and has been for a bit) yellow, and now when you ask her what her name is she immediately replies with "YELLOW!".  Daddy has started asking her what her favorite color is, and she says "yellow", and then he follows it up with asking her what her name is.  When he does that, she says "Elmo!".  She knows she's being a goof!
  • had a great visit with Grandma Debbie.  She took her to the park and played with her and had her read books to her and showed her how to finger paint.  She also loves the little Elmo that Grandma Debbie got for her!  Thanks!
  • had a few playdates with Amy and Reese and asks for them all the time now!!  She pretend talks to Amy, Reese, and Aila on the phone non-stop!
  • loves to play outside in the hose.  She runs to the baby gate and says "hose???" all the time!
  • loves to be "yay!"'d and to "yay!" you.
  • went pee pee on the potty and a little bit of poop and cried massively after both times.  It scared her.  I'm not sure why it started scaring her, but she knows now when she's got to go and says "potty", but then takes FOREVER to actually go...and then when she starts to go, she semi flips, starts sort of crying, and insists on me holding her, and then decides she wants to finish on the potty and cries, cries, cries afterwards.  I think we might put the potty away for a little bit!
Onto pictures!

Go Gators!!!

Giving Kodi some lovin'.

Feeding her dollie...oiy.

"Mommy, she ate my carrots all gone, that means I'm all done!!!"
 Being a goof!

More Kodi lovin' with one shoe on.  She can get these ones on and off all by herself, so she walks around with only one on quite a bit!

Playing with Amy and Reese...

"Hey Mommy, look!  I got Reese to share her Mommy with me too!"
"Hey Reese, wanna have a sleepover?!?  How fun would THAT be???"
Reading early early in the morning in the kitchen.  Excuse my appearance.  I would say it's from being early in the morning, but with my job being stay at home Momma, this is my uniform and appearance most days, ha!

Playing with the water...again...in the 'fridge.  Hopefully this new-found trick's amusement wears off soon!

"I'm thirsty, think I'll get some water"
"Ahhh....that water is cold!!!  I did it though, I got water out!!!"
"Yay water!!!  Wait, how come there's none in the cup??  I'll have to try this AGAIN!!"
 Bone phone...

"Hello??  Reese???"
"Umm hmmm."
Watching the Gator's play.  Note that our "death table" is no longer in the middle of the living room (it's under the window).  Grandma Drago taught Kalia how to climb up and down the couch all by herself, so if we leave the baby gates open, she loves to sit on the couch.  Really, it was getting ridiculous with all of our visitors to not be able to sit in the living room, so when we have company, we leave the baby gates open.  When it's just us we only go in there to watch the Gator's play though!

"Oh....go go go Gators!!!"
"Gotta get more comfortable, need my dolly and blankie.  Much better!"
 Being silly with Daddy...

...and Kodi!!!  This is Kodi joining in on "Ring around the Rosie".  Kalia thought it was great!

Playing outside.  She likes to sit on the little ledge in front of the doors.  She was zoning out here, and I just thought she looked so pretty, so I had to take a picture.  Daddy took over the camera from there though!

I'm biased, I know - but her little features are so so pretty!  And look, she's getting HAIR!
"Daddy!!!!  What are YOU doing with that black thing in front of your face??"
"yay hose!!!!"
Kodi "Really??  Can't a dog get some rest around this place???"

Another one where I just thought she looked so pretty!
The pool has really gotten too cold for us to play in, but she wanted to try it out, not take my word for it!

Such a happy little girl!

Reading in her little toddler chair.  I can't emphasize enough how much she loves her books!

"See Mommy, I'm good at sharing!"
 Playtime at the park!

"YAY!!!!"

"Yay!!!"
"AllRIGHT - I get to drive!!  I've got the keys!"
First time finger painting.  She looked like such a goober, haha - these are her painting clothes!

"Um, Mommy??  Why am I dressed like this and what are these tubes for??"
"Oh cool, paint!!"
"Kodi, you could use some color!"
"Um, yes Mommy??  Can't you see I'm in the middle of creating a masterpiece?!?!?"
"back to creating!!!"
Potty time - she ran into her room and got her books and then came back.  She likes to read on the potty!

More lovin' with Kodi after playing at the park with Reese (which is why her hiney is so dirty! - those pics are below from my point and shoot).

"Oh Kodi, I love you!!!  I missed you at the park today!"
This was actually really cute...Kodi normally just looks like he's taking it when she loves on him, but he gave her affection back this time!!

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, allright, allright - I love you too Kalia."
 Game Day - go Gators!

Helping Daddy fold laundry!

Reading with Grandma Debbie!

After a bike ride one morning in her new Elmo jammies that her Granny sent (thanks!) - she wouldn't let me take this helmet off...

...and kept pulling down at her shirt all excidedly saying "ELMO!!!!"  She went to sleep saying his name too - I think she likes them!

The caption is how this really went down.  Guess that's exactly how I look when I take pictures of her!
"Mommy - eese!!!"
Kalia saying "night night!!!" on the couch.  It's a game she plays non stop.  Now...if we could only get her to do it in her crib!!!  Actually, in her crib she yells "NIGHT NIGHT!!!!!" about 100 times at the top of her lungs.  Sigh...

The three of us being goofy.  We need to get out more.  Kalia likes to put headbands on my head, and for some reason, rolling around with Kodi on the kitchen floor was a great amount of fun.  I have on idea...don't ask!

Playtime with Reese at the park!  This is the girls eating lunch before we headed home.

"Mommy?  Can I help you??"

"Smile?  Okay!"
Kalia : "Give Reese a kiss?  Okay!!"  Reese : "You're so silly Kalia!!"
"yay playtime!"
Playtime at the park with Grandma Debbie!

"This is fun!"
"Now give me the camera Mommy so we can play!"
Whew...The End.  Congrats for making it this far - that was a ton of pictures!
