Kalia : 16 months

These past few weeks have been busy ones for us!  Kalia :
  • learned a new trick from her friend Yulander.  She now knows how to push the button on the fridge to turn on the water.  Oiy.
  • went on her first plane ride to Alabama.  Sadly, her Great Uncle Bill passed away unexpectedly, so we went up Sunday through Thursday for the memorial.  She did amazingly well on the airplane.  She's still not weaned, so I just latched her on for both takeoff and landing to get her ears to pop.  She didn't cry once!  We had a duffle bag full of toys and after opening and closing the window 800 times, we read books and played with her toys.  On the way back home, she even fell asleep on me!  It only takes a jet engine to put that child to sleep!
  • met a million different family members.  She was shy with most of them to start off with, but did really well after a few minutes.
  • figured out how to climb up and down stairs without assistance.  We're right there with her, of course, but she now knows how to back down them as well as climb up them.  Her Great Grandpa Gilbert's house had carpeted stairs, and she had a grand 'ol time climbing up and down and up and down.
  • woke up with a 103.1 fever not even 48 hours after getting back from Alabama.  No symptoms besides just tired and somewhat cranky.
  • spent her first night in 26 months without her Mommy and was none too pleased about it!  I was gone for a little over 24 hours, and because she wasn't weaned yet, she gave her Granny (who came down to help out) and her Daddy quite a run for their money.  After a stroller ride to calm her down, Daddy got her to sleep without crying.  She napped just fine for him the next day, but I came home and interrupted him putting her down.  Kalia thought she should get to stay up for hours because Mommy was home - oops!!
  • took two naps most of the week she got back.  You know she isn't feeling well when she'll go down TWICE in one day anymore!
  • repeats everything.  Potty mouths are a thing of the past!
  • loves to do ring around the rosie and fall down at the end.
  • still absolutely loves books and will read all day long with whomever will read to her!  Her favorites are Elmo.  We need some new Elmo books, we've gone through the 3 she has a million times.
  • discovered magnets at her Great Grandma Millers house on the refridgerator and thought they were so amazing!  Our fridge is stainless, so we don't have the magnets.  She kept herself occupied for quite sometime with those!
Onto pictures!

This is disasterous.  Good thing the Wells's taught us about the lock on the fridge!

Ring around the Rosie and All Fall Down outside after swimming.  The pool is starting to get pretty cold!

One of her favorite things to do - run run run (she says it too!)

...and fill bowls with the hose and dump them all over her.  Goof!

Yay airplane ride!

Playing with her laptop.

Daddy and Kalia!

She kept pointing to the guy that was sleeping across the isle from us.  She did not think it was okay that he was laying down across the seats!

This is what she does when she's tired, but the caption is what I think she's really saying!

"Nah nah nah, I'm not LISTENING!!!"

Crawling down her Great Grandma's hallway.  She thinks it's fun to crawl sometimes.  Probably because of her 4 legged furry brother.

Mommy, Kalia, and Great Grandma Miller!

Kalia knocked off the bottom grate thing of Great Grandma Miller's fridge, so while Daddy was fixing it, she thought she needed to supervise (or jump up and down on his back laughing hysterically :-).  I was a huge help, I just took photos and laughed!)

With Mommy's cousin Jessamyn, who Kalia thought was great fun!

After the memorial, on her Great Aunt Donna's farm running around!
