I had my 6 month follow up ultra sound on the lump in my breast yesterday. They were hoping the mass would disappear after pregnancy, but it's still there. The good news is that it's the smallest they've seen since they started monitoring it in April of 2010. The doctor let me know that there's a possibility it could still grow, so they want to see me back in another 6 months.
Things definitely look more positive though. The mass had been growing slightly since that first ultrasound. If in six months it's the same size or smaller, they'll recommend I go two years before getting another ultrasound if I can still feel it. He also recommended because of my history with lumps, that I start getting my yearly mammograms at 35. What the crap? That's a little more than 5 years away - when did I get so old?! Better safe than sorry though!
While I'm on the subject of me and things getting smaller, I'm down to 3 lbs left of Kalia lovin' to go. Woot! I've been taking advantage of the cooler weather with my running. I ran a 5k this past weekend in 27 minutes (just timed on my watch, not in a race or anything), and did a 7:30 mile on Wednesday. Chris and I took Kalia in the stroller for about a mile (and Kodi!!), then let her kick under the trees with one of us while the other one of us ran our mile before heading home. I'm starting to feel like my old go-go-go self more than just slow and sluggish. I'm not getting much sleep these days though (Kalia's going through a growth spurt, so we're up at least 3 times a night eating), so I'm just adapting I guess!
'Till Tuesday...
So glad to hear the good news! Hopefully it's nothing but good news in the future as well. =)
ReplyDeleteYour head is still bigger than mine ;-) Glad to hear the good news about your follow up. I'm in the same boat as you with the breasts! I have another mammogram coming up (6 month follow up from the last one to see if there are any changes). I have to have one every year from here on out due to breast cancer in the family and me having issues early on :-( It feels more routine than anything else, and hopefully things just keep looking alright for the both of us! Mammograms do stink though...very painful!!!
