This week, Kalia :
- weighed in at a whopping 12 lbs 10 ounces at breast feeding support group.
- started going to other people besides just Mommy. The lactation consultant at the breast feeding support group gave me a helpful hint with this one. She said that exclusively breast fed babies, especially those that won't even take a bottle, will not do well going to anyone other than Mommy straight in. Other people have to hold Kalia facing outwards. She took Kalia and held her outwards and Kalia did great!
- stopped being able to nap without it being completely dark. I learned this at the bulletin below.
- went to her first big play date with lots of little kids at Monica's. It was her naptime though, and I couldn't get her to nap to save my life...all day, which made for a fuss-butt Kalia! Her and Aila (Monica's 11 month old) were adorable though. Aila let Kalia relax in her crib, and then would peak through the slats and put her hand in and say "baby". Kalia jarbled back at her. So cute!!
- hated her car seat even more. We drove to Orlando to find out the gender of Uncle Shawn and Aunt Christina's new baby (it's a girl!) and to see their new home, and I had to ride in the back seat saying "shhhh" the entire ride. Except for the two 10 minute naps she took!
- slept in Uncle Shawn and Aunt Christina's closet. I tried to put Kalia down in Maddie's nursery, and within a few minutes she was awake. She's so alert, and she never wants to miss a thing, so she has to be in complete darkness to sleep. I suggested putting her in their guest bathroom because that was dark, and Chris said that the other guests would not enjoy being video monitored while they were busy doing their deed. So, off to the closet she went! Good thing they've got an AC vent in there! She did great all day that way.
- ate out at her first restaurant. We went to First Watch for breakfast, and she did great there too!
- decided naptime was for the birds the rest of the week.
- is incredibly drooley and eats her hand constantly. I really think she's teething!
- stopped sleeping so well. Most nights I'm up every hour to hour and a half from about midnight on.
- outgrew her pampers size 1-2 diapers, even though they say they go up to 15 lbs. She's into the size 2's which look humongous on her.
- started wearing her cloth diapers on Sunday. So far, so good! Her diaper rash that she's had since we brought her home from the hospital has finally cleared up. When we travel, we'll go with disposables, but around the house, she gets her cloth. She gets dressed in a bib for her drool and her cloth diaper most days. They're really cute on her!
- is such a jabberer! She talks up a storm these days!
- tried out her bumbo. So far, she doesn't like it. She hates things that confine her (car seat :-)), and she was not a fan of this either. Maybe soon though!
- won every bottle battle. Another week...more trying.
I only managed to get a couple of pictures of Kalia without her fist or fists shoved in her mouth. She still talks and smiles while she's got them in there...it's actually quite funny!
"Yes?!? Can I help you?!?!"
"Yuummm...good fists!!!"
Everybody was Kung Fu Fighting...
"Mommy, you don't understand how good this hand is. I mean, it's really really good!!!"
"Mommy, I don't want to take my fists out of my mouth, and please stop flashing that thing in my eyes!!" aka ALL DONE!!
Too cute not to take a picture of the sad lip though!
