- pulls herself up on everything. Anything and everything that she think she can get herself up on she goes for. Some of the times when she's not sure if it's a stable something she's trying to pull up on, she makes her lips real tight and flutters her eyes prepping for the fall. I've stopped trying to catch her if she's on her mats or on the carpet in our bedroom. She's figured out how to plop on her rear this way and doesn't expect Mommy to be there every time!
- did amazingly well with sleep this week until Sunday night (more on that coming up). We pushed her to 5 hours straight two nights in a row, and then I read a book that Kalia's Granny sent to my Kindle (thanks!!), and the main take away from it was that we needed to put Kalia to bed earlier. There's apparently a magic sleep window and if you miss it, things are rough. Kalia's magic sleep window is 6 p.m.. Not 6:15, not 5:45...6 p.m.. We put her to bed at 6 on Thursday night and she fussed, not cried, but fussed for 7 minutes and then went to sleep. Friday night we did the same, and she fussed, again not cried, just fussed, for 3 minutes and then went to sleep. Saturday night we again put her to bed at 6 and she cried as we went out the door and was asleep before we could even get into the kitchen and turn on her monitor. She slept between 10-12 hours straight all three of those nights. It was the most amazing thing in the whole world. And when she did get up if it hadn't been 12 hours, she ate and went back to sleep until 7 a.m.. Early to bed is late to rise. She'd been getting up by 5:40 before that!
- went to the International Mall on Saturday. She had another blow out in the car seat...apparently she can't poop in the car seat without it coming out all over the place. This time Daddy was smart and let Mommy put a spare outfit in his "minimalistic man bag" so Kalia didn't look so goofy while we were out shopping. Daddy wore Kalia while Mommy shopped, and then we sat outside on the big table and chairs and wiped down one of the chairs with a disinfecting wipe and let Kalia sit down too. Daddy's bag didn't have any toys, so she ate and played with the wipes case while we ate. I wish I would've had my small camera with me...she looked so stinkin cute in the big chair (it was rattan and had a big cushion and arms on both sides).
- got sick on Sunday. I'm sure she caught the virus from being at the mall. It's fun to take her places, but sometimes it back fires, even when we're trying to be careful with germs! I guess all babies get sick though. She woke up with a 102.5 temperature. We gave her Tylenol and 2 hours later her temperature was already up again past 101. Because of her history with having the kidney infection, the pediatrician wanted to see her and test for a UTI. They were closing 20 minutes after we got there, so in order to get immediate results to know if Kalia needed to get on antibiotics right away, we had to do another cathedor. Talk about stressful!!! The initial results came back negative (and we got a phone call later on in the week that everything came back fine), so she just had a virus. The only thing that was different while she was sick was that she refused to nap during the day and woke up as soon as her medicine wore off at night.
- started crawling!! She is super fast at it too. She goes for anything and everything that isn't her toys!
- got her playroom converted into the 'prison yard'. On her 31 week birthday we installed the baby gates. Both her and Kodi are really pathetic with them. They go the their respective sides, stare at each other, Kodi noses her, and then they give me the saddest expression.
- ate carrots for the first time and hated them. She actually threw them up the 2nd day I tried to give them to her, so we just canned them while she's sick. She loves fruits though. Chris made her a banana, apple, and pear mixture and she'll eat up 3-4 ounces of that at a time if I let her. I try to hide her vegetables in between bites of "the good stuff".
- got louder. She loves to yell when we're going on walks. I'm not sure if she's talking to Kodi or all of the people we pass, but she just goes on and on and on at a really really loud volume. It's a happy yell, I'm okay with it!
- is getting a little chunky :-). I don't know if she's storing up for another growth spurt, but her clothes are definitely fitting a little more snug than they previously had been...and that's not just length wise! It's cute!
Kalia got her fever on Sunday morning and Sunday night I got hives all over. Monday they got worse, and I had them all over my face, ears, head, and areas that aren't so fun to have hives in. Tuesday I went to the urgent care doctor. They said it was stress related. I took a chill pill (because that's basically all I could take while nursing Kalia...really Claratin and Benedryl) and by Thursday I was finally hives free and Kalia was fever free. Thank goodness!
Kalia had a 101 temperature when I took these pictures. I can see in her smile and her eyes that she doesn't feel so great, but she's still a pretty happy little girl!
You also have to remember, it's kind of nice getting her exposed to these viruses because once you get them, you can't get them again and it raises your immune system in the process. It sucks when they're sick though :-(
