Happy 38 week Birthday Kalia!

This week, Kalia :
  • ate like a champ.  Forget the pureed foods, we've moved onto solids.  She loves everything.  Her favorite are blueberries still, followed closely by bananas and avocado's.  When we cook dinner, we just cook Kalia's up separately unseasoned (we did season her chicken though just no salt), and she loves all of it.  The menu this week included her three favorites from above as well as : whole what bread, steamed broccoli, chicken (with oregano and basil on it), sweet potatoes, black beans, steamed green beans, pears, steamed carrots, tomatoes, and cheerios.  She's eating a lot faster, and if she takes longer than 30 minutes it's because she's really hungry and eating a lot.  Her typical breakfast has been 1/4th an avocado, 1/2 banana, 2-3 ounces of oatmeal (which she's trying messily to spoon feed herself, but lets us feed her that as long as she has solids as well), 1/4th a cup of blueberries, and sometimes cheerios or bread if she's still hungry.  The trick to getting her to eat anything and everything is to not cut it up too small.  If it's too small, she'll smear it around her tray.  It's a fine line between too big to choke and too small to grab!
  • has started eating snacks in between meal times.  I generally give her vegetables (this week was carrots, brocolli, and green beans).  Plain cheerios are also a huge favorite, and are easy to take along if we're out.
  • will drink up to 3 ounces of my milk at meal time.  She'll only drink it from this one cup that has no handles, and a lid with holes around the rim of it (for slower flowing).  I have to give it to her otherwise it'll go everywhere, but she actually drinks it.  Hooray!!
  • ate and loved an egg (scrambled), but she got a rash on her face shortly afterwards that went away within an hour or so, but it makes me think I should hold back on giving her eggs until after she's one.  She ate almost an entire egg, a half a piece of bread, 1/4th of an avocado, black beans, and broccoli all in one setting.  I'm telling you, she's a hungry little girl!
  • weighed in at 19 lbs 12 ounces on Wednesday at breast feeding support group.
  • let Daddy put her back to sleep in the middle of the night if she's not hungry.  He's successfully gotten up with her a few times and she's gone back down.  I was stressed and exercised too much this past weekend though and had a really low milk supply, so Kalia was up every 3-4 hours on both nights starving.  Normally after she eats, I'll still get out quite a few ounces, but this past weekend I didn't even get out a half an ounce afterwards.  Things have gotten better since then though, but it was a tiring weekend!
  • thinks Roomba is the greatest thing in the entire world.  She rarely gets scared of it now, and thinks it's fun to chase around the house.  She'll get both of them going at once, and then go from chasing one to chasing the other.  I think it's great...it wears her out and my floors get cleaned at the same time!
  • hits her head a lot.  It's an unfortunate side effect of crawling so freaking fast, pulling herself up on everything, and attempting to walk a ton of places.  She doesn't really cry too much about it, but she constantly has a little red dot somewhere or another on her it seems.  She has yet to bruise, and they go away by the next day.  I only worry if she cries hard.  She's a tough little girl!
  • found her Tupperware cabinet that we left open and thought it was great fun!
  • went for a ride in her stroller to the library, and then Publix, with Mommy and Daddy on Saturday.  She wanted to show her Daddy the childrens corner there with the train tracks and trains.  She likes to beat the trains against the train table and yell in excitement.  She doesn't care that we're at the library and we're supposed to be quiet.  So far no one else does either, they all think she's cute!
  • went to go meet her new little friend Blake Harvey at the hospital on Monday.  I hope she didn't scare the new Mommy and Daddy with how active and all over the place / into everything she was!
  • did better-ish with her bed time this week.  I think her magic window moved to 6:30ish.  She's still not where she was with just completely being calm and going to sleep within a few minutes, but she's not throwing a fit for 30 + minutes either before calming down.  It's still a work in progress!
  • has started accidentally letting go of me and just standing for about 2-3 seconds before realizing that she has no support and falling square on her rear.
  • carries things in her hand while she crawls.
  • is starting to wave.  She normally holds her hand up straight, but yesterday she started waving it, so we're close!
  • beat up on Kodi all week long.  He just takes it.  He's the best dog in the entire world.  I'm working on gentle with her, but right now it feels like I'm trying to tame a crazy lion.
  • talks talks talks talks talks and yells yells yells yells yells.  I have a feeling that could be a bullet in every post for the rest of her life :-).
Onto more important things...pictures!

Such a silly little girl!
