12 Months

It was weird not taking our weekly picture on Tuesday of this week.  There are still some funnies that I want to remember, and definitely pictures I want to share and keep up with, so this blog continues... :-)

Kalia had her one year checkup on Monday.  Her stats :

Height : 30 1/2 inches (89%)
Weight : 22 lbs 8 ounces (74%)
Head : 18 1/2" (46.99 cm) (93%)

Compared with her 9 month stats of :
Height : 29 inches (93 %)
Weight : 20 lbs (76%)
Head : 18 1/4" (46.355 cm) (off the chart)

So she's slowing down and coming back onto the charts with all of her measurements.  She's still got that big 'ol noggin so she can fit all of her brains!  Such a smart little girl :-).

They did a blood prick test to make sure Kalia wasn't anemic.  Initially the results came back low, so they had to do the more thorough test (where they get more blood).  Kalia let them know that she didn't think very highly of them squeezing her finger to get blood out.  She didn't cry, she just squirmed and tried to get away from them and yelled at them when she couldn't.  The nurses were surprised at how strong of a little girl she was!  The second test came back and Kalia was on the higher side, which is good!

She's actually had diarrhea (TMI, whatev...), which I initially thought was from her eating sugar with the cake and me eating entirely too many cake pops.  I forgot that happens when I eat sugar.  You know, what I eat, she eats while breast feeding.  The pediatrician recommended holding off on trying to wean Kalia and giving her cows milk until she got over it.  She seemed to be doing better Tuesday / Wednesday, and then fell hard Thursday and we're still in sick mode.  So no weaning just yet...

Some of my favorite highlights from the past week and a half of Kalia.  Kalia :

  • came in like a terror to breast feeding support group on Wednesday.  Within about 4 minutes of us being there, she took a bowl of cheerios and dumped them over, rocked a baby's car seat (without him in it, thankfully) like a maniac, tried to show another baby girl where her eyes were and when her Momma picked her up, Kalia took her blanket and ran around the room with it like a cape, picked up the dolls and threw them all over the place, and hollered like a cave woman.  I'm pretty sure it was relatively quiet until we showed up and then mass chaos ensued.  We might be outgrowing that group, sadly!!  They were all great sports about it and thought she was pretty funny.  It is hard to keep her contained!
  • rode in the bike to the little neighborhood park on Thursday.  She wasn't feeling so well, and there's never any kids down there, so we went down there to get out some of her energy that she still has even when she's under the weather.  She was so excited to see the park - we haven't been there in about a month with everything else going on.  We tend to go to the Y playground anymore too, but apparently I need to mix it up!  She climbed and hollered and had a grand 'ol time.
  • swam, a lot.  She loves walking mach 100 to the edge and then holding up her hand for you to catch her as she's walking in and then kick kick kicking over the edge.  She's finally sort of started to stop for about 2 seconds before she reaches the edge.
  • uses her hands to talk, a lot!
  • loves to go up to the big number one photo that's still in the dining room and say hi to herself and say hi to "that Daddy".  I was in the kitchen and kept hearing "hii that daddy!!" and looked over to see her pointing at a picture of her and Chris and waving at them.  I told her to say hi to Mommy, and she just turned and waved at me.  I guess she did what I asked...sigh.
  • gets sad to see "that Daddy" leave in the mornings.  On Thursday and Friday she cried when he left, and when I put her down for us to go on our walk, she walked the same way he left crying "that Daddy, that Daddy" with her arms out.  Cute and sad at the same time!
  • likes to play "come get me" with us on our morning walks.  She's really into being carried now (odd), so we put her down, run up, and then put our arms out and say "come get me!" and she runs to us with her arms out and a huge grin on her face.  Love it!
  • is learning entirely too much from her furry brother.  Today we were in the pool and she sprinted out like Kodi does, banged on the screen, so I opened the screen door.  She proceeded to walk into the yard, squat down a bit, and pee!!!!!!!  We should have taught Kodi to pee in the toilet!!!!!  After she was done, she just walked her happy rear back to the pool and kept playing.
  • helped Daddy celebrate his second Father's Day by joining him on about 5 holes of golf.  She went up to the tee markers, pulled them out of the ground, threw them, then did the same with the tee and the balls.  This little girl leaves a wake of destruction everywhere she goes.
  • is cutting three new teeth.  Her top two and one on her bottom on the right side of her other two teeth.  The left side might be coming too, but I can definitely see the specs and little marks where those three are coming through.  She kept us up last night from 1045 - 145 a.m..  I guess she wanted to make sure to wish her Daddy a Happy Father's Day as soon as she could!
I'll have Father's Day pictures to post after I sort through them.  These are from before today!

Playing in the pool with Uncle Shawn, Aunt Christina, and Maddie!

Hanging out in her new chair Aunt Christina and Uncle Shawn got for her for her birthday.  It's supposed to be for the beach, but Kalia loves getting in and out of it and playing with her toys while sitting there.  I had to put a book under where her feet are so she could do it by herself!

Pointing at the balloons that are still up.  We do this about 30 times a day :-), which is why they're still up!

Playing bouncy with Daddy before he leaves in the morning.  PJ's with feet are a pain now-a-days, so I got lazy and didn't zip them up - oops!

These next few are for Aunt Christina.  This is how messy we get some days while eating!  This was a yogurt attack.  Kalia's trying to feed herself with the spoon, and I let it happen.  Daddy is waaay more of a neat freak than Mommy!

This next one is gross, but I wanted to show Kalia on her car.  She just started riding it around at the end of this week (thanks Grandma Debbie!).  Her snot was like a faucet this day, no matter how many times I wiped it, it instantly reappeared.  Kalia could care less about it.  Gross!

Heading to the park.  She's sick here too, can't you tell??  Not much keeps this girl down!

More fun swimming time!

Kalia and Daddy racing to the steps.  Thankfully, Daddy won just barely enough to catch her before she toppled in!

I caught a great in action shot of Kodi fetching the ball...

...which is why this next one is blurry!  Kodi makes a big splash!

Talking with her hands to go find Kodi's ball.  I can't stop laughing when she does this!

Saying hi to herself...

...going to peak on Kodi who's barking outside...

...then coming back to say "hi that Daddy!".  So silly!

...these pictures are going to calm down in number one day.  Just not today!  She's too cute, I can't help but take a million pictures, especially when Daddy's around to make sure she doesn't kill herself.  Then I can snap away.  She's at such a fun age right now, I just want to capture everything so I don't forget it!
