Happy 29 week Birthday Kalia!

This week, Kalia :

  • had another crazy week!  Aunt Jennifer, Uncle Jason, Kaylyn, and Ashlyn came over Wednesday through Friday, and then Granny, Grandpa, and Great Granny came over Friday through Monday.  It got even more busy because...
  • shared her 29th week birthday with her cousin Maddie!!  Madelyn came into the world at 11:23 a.m. weighing 6 lbs 9 ounces and was 19.5 inches long.  She looks so so tiny!
  • went to Orlando on her 29th week birthday to meet Maddie after meeting Aunt Jennifer + fam at Sonny's for lunch (they were back for Ashlyn's follow up ear surgery).
  • celebrated her first Christmas!!  She was so overwhelmed at opening all of her gifts (thank you so much everyone!) that she had to break and take a nap in between.
  • helped Mommy cook Christmas dinner.  I wore her in the bjorn and put together the casseroles.  Kalia's granny helped a ton with the cooking and helped keep Kalia occupied by giving her chunks of baked sweet potatoes.  She likes to eat pieces of both sweet potatoes and bananas.
  • ate sweet potatoes for Christmas dinner (and the next few days afterwards) and did great with them.  We got a really nice blender for Christmas, and it purees her food so much better.  My girlfriend Amy told me how soupy the stage 1 foods were, so I think her initial problem with food was that we weren't getting it thin enough.  Thanks for the tip Amy!
  • started drinking out of her sippy cup with a bottle nipple.  (Another great tip from Amy!).  She still won't take a bottle, but she can hold the sippy cup and likes drinking water out of it that way.  I tried putting milk in there and it appeased her for a little bit, but she got pretty mad at it before too long and just wanted Mommy.  We're sticking with water in there for now.
  • likes water a lot.  She loves to drink it from my cup and gets excited when I go to fill it up.
  • sat up all by herself in her crib.  She was supposed to be going to bed and it all of the sudden got quiet, so we checked the monitor to see if she was asleep and she was sitting up looking around all proud of herself.  Her crib is now one setting lower.
  • had blow out diapers back to back days.  We went after Christmas shopping over in Tampa on Monday and she started pitching a fit in the car about half way there.  I leaned over her seat to check things out and there was a pile of poo next to her leg.  We had to stop and take everything out of the car, clean everything up (on the side of the road) and change her.  Daddy packed her diaper bag that day and thought that an extra shirt was all she needed.  I had a pair of pajama bottom pants that I was planning on returning that we just stuck on her with a tee shirt and said oh well.  We still got a ton of compliments on how cute she was, but she looked like such a goof!  The next day she had a blow out on our way to go meet Aunt Jennifer + family for lunch before heading to Orlando.  I was able to clean her pants off (wasn't as bad) and by the time we got to Orlando they were dry.  Chris and I have both decided that we miss the just breast milk poop!  This solid stuff is SUCH a mess!!
